If you pulled all the wires at once, you will need to go to a parts store and see if they can show you a diagram on how to reset the wires. Do not unhook the wires from the spark plugs at this point.

New spark plugs new wires old distributor timing changed wen nee plugs were put on, clockwise or counterclockwise, don't know, besides the battery what firing order V8 305?

I don't know your year--make--model? You should be able to remove dist cap, crank the engine, watch which way the rotor turns, then you know the direction of rotation. Most chevy rwd v8, firing order, 18436572. The driver side bank is odd numbered, 1357.
The passenger side bank is even numbered, 2468 from front to back. Put your number one piston on tdc of compression stroke. Then whichever spark plug tower the rotor is leading into, should be number one, then you follow the firing order around the cap.

Need to know how the plugs go back on the distributor cap for 1988 v6 chevy pick up, what is the firing order?

Hi my name is David =d_hubbs . Your Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Clock wise Rotation. NOTE make sure you know where your #1 Wire starts at on the Distributor Cap. To know for sure Reove your Coil Wire so it won't Start --Remove #1 Spark Plug which is on the Drivers side Front Plug. Have someone Bump the Engine a Little at a Time Until You Either see pressure Rise on a Gauge or Just Put your Finger on The outside of the #1 Spark Hole ---When you feel AIR ==Compression out of that Cylinder. .Your at TDC on Compression Stroke. Just Remove Distributor Cap.Look a Rotors Position in your Cap Which ever Spark Plug Hole in your Dist,. Cap is Closet to is where you Start your #1 Plug Wire. Its Possible you went Slightly Past Number 1 ,If so Just move ALL plug Wires 1 Hole Back Counter Clock Wise. And you Should be Good To Go. Please Let me Know how my solution helped you by Voting For me and Leaving a Testamony. Thanks From:---d_hubbs

AM HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING THE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES IN THE CORRECT ORDER ON A 1982 F 350. I KNOW THE FIRING ORDER BUT CANNOT GET THE WIRES RIGHT. KEEPS BACK FIRING

Look and see if your cap has the number ONE on it. That is where you start with #1 wire. Lift the cap off and see if the rotor is going clockwise or counter clockwise. Then fill in your firing order starting with that direction.

Sometimes the distributor is off a tooth and the vacuum advance pot hits something. People will rotate the wires instead of removing the distributor and resetting it. It sounds like you may be overadvanced to get a cylinder to fire with an open valve.

I hooked up the spark plug wires wrong on the distrator cap it is a 1988 4.3L 6cyl how can i find a diagram to fix this problem or tell me hoe to fix it

find the firing order which is usually on the intake manifold, put the crankshaft on 0 degrees top dead center, pull off the distributor cap and mark where the rotor button is pointing, start #1 cylinder at that spot(which that spot should be pointing towards the rear of the distributor),and # 1 cylinder is front of engine on the drivers side then it goes next 1 back #3 then # 5,and the passengers side front is #2, then #4,then #6 towards the back, and the firing order goes clockwise on the distributor.if it spits and sputters or back fires, then the timing firing order is off 180 degrees,so move every wire to the exact opposite on the cap,so your #1 plug wire will be opposite from where you put it first.then double check the firing order and all plug wires then try it.the firing order is:165432,i still dont know how to send pictures.

Need help replacing spark plug wires replaced distributor cap & didn't mark to replace wires on new cap

you have to re-time it on the cap. look at the cap it should show a 1. You will need the firing order which should be 18436572, you can call your local auto parts to verify. start at plug one, which is on the right front when facing the windshield, put on #1 where the 1 is on the cap and go around clockwise adding like the firing order says until you have them all back on the cap. 8 should be your second wire to put on. It will be on the left closest to the windshield. On and on. secure cap Right side odd 1,3,5,7 Left even 2,4,6,8 front to back in that order. Hope it helps
