Number 5 cylinder fouling out 3.8

The car started missing one day so I replaced the plugs and wires and it ran worse. When I pulled the old plugs out the seemed fine, when it ran worse with the new plugs I thought it was the coil pack so I changed it. Then the parts store said that I had the wrong type of plugs and when I took them out number 5 was fouled. Fast forward I replaced the plugs wires and coil twice, still numberr 5 fouls. The plug comes out black, not oil. I thought stuck injector, I stopped asking the autoparts people for advice. I took the injectors out preassure checked and cleaned them but none were stuck but I put them back in different locations anyway. Still number 5 fouls out imediatly. WHAT THE. Im think electrical now but dont know where to start.

Ok, I did a compression test and all cylinders are at 120 lbs and then I took off the valve cover to check for broken springs and stuff and everything is in order. I put the car back together and disconnected the injector for number 5 and started the car and it ran smooth (no popping) but with the obviouse miss. Im thinking computer?

It don't sound electrical to me sense you chg. all that, the plugs you put in are they a hotter plug? You don't by chance have a broken valve spring do ya, thats what it sounds like to me. Just sounds to me that its valve spring most likely exhaust valve.

This might not mean much, seeings i miss it on the valve spring, well i tride, seems like it would have kicked on the chk. engine light if a cyl. wasent fireing thru inlector, have you tried a test light on that electrical plug for #5 see if its bright or weak, just a thought.

I have a 2003 Ford f150 with a 5.4 . Missing at idle . Showing 300 code. Random misfire. Sometimes 301 and sometimes 303. Where should I start ?

Start by replacing coil and spark plugs for cylinders number 1 and 3 . That would be 1st and 3rd cylinders on drivers side . TIP OF THE DAY
ALWAYS SPRAY SOME WD40 DOWN THE Hole so the spark plugs come out easily.
Good luck

Have a 2009 Mazda CX-7 cylinder 3 misfire already change the coil pack last month and spark plugs ran fine after that now its reading cylinder 3 misfire again

Check to see that plug wire is fully seated on plug and coil pack..Then, pull plug to see if fouled due to not firing when pack was bad.

Xr6 2004 5speed turbo when u put foot down it starts missing any one know how to fix they tell me it's a common problem with this ba model

A fouled or worn plug (spark gap too big) can do that. Also a bad ignition wire can do that. These are especially suspect if it is a particular cylinder that is missing. You may be able to ID it if you get a check engine light and the code is misfire cyl no. 3 or something like that. If it gets worse in rainy / damp weather, suspect a coil pack, spark plug boot or spark plug wire getting wet. If it is not a specific cylinder it may be a clogged fuel filter causing insufficient fuel pressure during high demand such as acceleration or pulling a hill.

How do I go about removing a 1992 Toyota engine from the vehicle so I can overhaul or rebuild ?

First I would pull plugs if its missing ,it seems like only running on 3 cylinders ,you'll find spark plug all loaded up and fouled clean or replace with new.If vehical uses excessive oil peticularly on freeway, possibly just head needs valve guide seals.

Have the engine codes pulled to see what is at fault . This will guide you to the root cause. A local Checker or Auto zone can help with code retrieval .

My Ford F250 has an intermittent miss. I have replaced the spark plugs ,wires, cap and rotor. When I replaced the Spark plugs the miss went away for 1 day. The next day the miss came back when I started...

You can find the miss by starting the engine and pulling one plug at a time. when you find the one that doesn't change how the engine runs, there is your problem area. things to do are, first I would switch the wire and see if the miss goes away. If it doesn't then pull the plug and see if it is fouled out. do a compression test on that cylinder. if the compressionis low you can spray some wd40 in the cylinder and retest. if the pressure comes up then the rings are bad, if it doesn't then you have a valve problem.let me know

Number 4 cylinder miss fire

Check your distributor cap & wires first. If all is ok pull the spark plug and check if it's oil fouled. If there is no oil on the plug the plug might be bad. if there is oil on the plug you can get an adaptor that screws over the end of the plug and shields it from getting oil fouled. Of course this is a temporary solution for a piston ring or valve seal problem. I had a caddy I ran with plug shields fo 5 years so they work! Good luck!....PS If your plug is oil fouled you can also use a heavier oil like a 20/50 or use 4 quarts of 10/40 and a quart of lucas oil stabilizer. This will help keep the oil where it belongs and don't forget to do an oil change every 2,500 to 3000 miles.

99 5.2 durango :pulled codes for multipe missfire cylinder #5-7

Aloha We have just replaced all of what you have replaced, plus water pump, fuel pump, pcv valve and 02 sensor. Took it to mechanic today we had misfire on 1,2,6,7. Mechanic said that the 99 dodge is known for bad computers, he checked ours and works great turns out that it was the coil. Ours was jumping 1/4 inch and had a orange/yellow spark. it is supposed to have a 1 inch spark and be blue. This has solved our problems after 527 dollars later.
Check the coil!
