Getting an F4 code on this oven. I had previously attempted to replace the temperature sensor, but unfortunately did not work. The oven heats sporadically, sometimes superheating (and unable to turn it off except at the breaker), and other times failing to reach a desired temperature. Any ideas on what I need to do? Someone on another website had suggested there might be a short in the ribbon cables, along with a workaround utilizing cardstock, but that didn't work either.
F4 = Shorted oven temperature sensor circuit
Here is the sensor to order.
Thanks Richard. That was actually the first thing I replaced, still no-go.
OK, then check the wiring harness for a short. If none is found, you will need to replace the control board. Here is that part to order.http://bit.ly/Xl7qtV All parts come with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.
Thanks again. When you say short, should I be looking for where the wiring is exposed, or is there a good way to check for a short?
Look for exposed wire that may be grounding out or burnt through.

It sounds like this is a common occurance among GE ovens.
Shut off the power at the box, then remove faceplate then remove the keypad.
after doing so, remove it from connector, and clean pins with an eraser.
Make sure the terminals are clean of debris, and check for a reset button on the back of the keypad.
I hope this helped you out.
