Am i able to use my phillips HTS3400 speakers without the receiver?

Try this first on the original remote. Insert the batteries backward and make sure that they make contact with the terminals in the remote control(stick a piece of metal in there to make sure all the posts make contact), then take them off and install them correctly and see if it works, it's a long shot but i've had some luck using this method. now, for the question regarding if the new remote will work, well, i couldn't find the correct code for your receiver using the RCA universal control. the sender plugs into the TVs audio out jack and you may need to select on a on-screen menu for the TV, audio out for the external speaker, in other words, the tv speakers are activated but maybe not the external audio jack for the sender unit. Many HDTVs have a very complex menu (firmware) with all kinds of options you can select. Check into this possibility.

Usually send the video signal from your cable box to the video 1 (video in) port on the phillips receiver audio signal from the cable box to the audio in on the receiver under video 1 --video cable will go in a yellow port. audio will be a fiber optic audio cable you can buy at any electronics store and go into the audio in port for Video 1. then connect a cable to the video out port for Video 1 and into the back of your television on any of the video in ports.

Check the audio setting to make sure the internal speakers aren't turned off. Check to see if it's set to use external speakers. If it is setup to run sound through an av receiver check all connections, make sure the receiver is on the correct input setting, and speaker wires.

it might be the programs your using to burn your dvds try using windows dvd maker if you have the operating system vista or convert x to dvd if you have xp that should work

Fox International sells the speaker casings. The plastic casing for the main unit would have to be procured by buying a broken HTS3400 off of eBay/other online seller, and replacing from there. Myauctionsonline was once selling a broken one for about $30 including shipping.

there is a capacitor on the power supply that has gone bad, it is a 1000 mf 16v cap and you will notice the top is bulged up a little bit. there are three in a row and this is the center one. Radio shack replacement part for $1.73 and you are back in business. Tim

I'm preety shure that you accidentaly make some changes in SETUP. Try to redo it carefuly.
