These days, modern fridges come with automatic ice makers that are built into the fridge itself. The fridge automatically fills the ice holders with water that then freeze into cubes. You can then tip the ice onto a tray that is removable and then the fridge will automatically re-fill.

Whirlpool refridgerator is leaking water on the freezer side (side by side refridgerator) onto the floor. The ice machine was overflowing with ice and has frozen ice in the ice maker that won't budge. We...

WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

Ice maker is dripping water into the ice bucket.I have turned down the water flow from the wall and I have also releveled the refridgerator. Am I looking at a worn seal or new ice maker.

You're looking at a new water valve. It is not fully closing after the icemaker no longer calls for the water.

Kenmore refridgerator 19 porcelian plus. ice maker is making ice but not dispensing into the bin to make more ice. how do i solve this

It's possible that your ice maker heater has gone out and therefore can't allow the ice to break away from the unit to drop it. If this is the case, you'll need a new ice maker. We hope this helps and we hope to be able to assist you again soon if you have any more appliance issues.

Ice maker does not make ice

Hello, Ice makers are very simple machines and only have 2 components. The first is the ice maker located inside the freezer, The second is the dual valve located behind the refridgerator behind the panel at the rear. One valve is for the ice maker, the other is for the water dispenser. When one of these components go bad the result is no ice. There is a very simple way for the layman to figure out where your problem lay. If you have a ping pong ball or shot glass place it on the icemaker and wait 12 hours, if the ping pong ball falls into the ice try the ice maker is good and you need to replace the inlet valve...if the ping pong ball stays in place it means the ice maker is bad and you should replace this. If you have any other questions regarding this problem please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!! Mike

Our Hotpoint side by side refridgerator, the ice/water not workin

It sounds like you have a failing relay/valve that wont stay open when current is passed through them, check there first otherwise your control board could have water/heat damage remove inspect and if necessary replace let me know how it goes :)

ICE MAKER WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF

On the ice makers on refridgerators unless the ice in the bucket is high enough to raise the arm on the icemaker it will not shut off. Most people lift the arm up when they see the bucket full. I have the side by side Whirlpool model and on mine if I don't raise the arm the ice will fall out the bucket before it will raise the arm high enough.
