If you are using an ink refill kit (or buying ink that has been refilled, the ink level will not show accurately) also, if refilling yourself you must clean the pint area of the cartridge with alcohol before installation, and then run the 'clean print head' tools from you Canon menus.
I recommend buying Canon ink, at least for 1 in 4 refills to reset your ink levels.
Inkjet cartridges dried up at the nozzles. Can be dissolved by water to print again. Refill cartridges done by yourself can have dried up ink left in the cartridge to make it too concentrated. Too easy to dry up.
originally, when u have ink cartridges in Canon product run low u need to buy new ones, because it was designed like that. even u have refilled the old cartridge full, it will detected low ink because the old cartridge already detected for the beginning. this designed to make Canon buyer to buy new ones ink cartridge. but, there some trick to make your old cartridge detected as new one, all u need just to reset the setting for cartridge recognition. try to visit this site: http://resetcanon.com/reset-canon-mp250-pixma-inkjet-all-in-one-printer/
maybe this site can help your problem, regard riyan.
Hello, the printer Canon Pixma MP140 has cartridges with no chips. The printer reads the serial from the cartridge and tells you an estimated ink level. My recomandation is to press the resume/cancel buton for at least 10 seconds, that being the method to cancel the ink counter. After you press the resume/cancel buton you will be able to print, scan and copyas you did before. The only disadvantage is that your printer will never show the ink level for this set of refilled cartridges, but it will work as well as brand new cartridges.
Those cartridges don't refill unless you have a way to reset the internal chip. Check online for refillable cartridges or a chip resetter. For priming you go into printer properties and choose maintenance and head cleaning, or choose cleaning from the front panel.
For the Canon Pixma MP220, I kept getting a message saying "Col Ink Vol Unknown" after refilling and replacing a cartridge. After reading some of the other responses it appears as though Canon cartridges contain internal chips that prevent you from using them after they have been refilled. However, I tried a few things and this is what worked for me.
1. Insert your refilled Canon cartridge like normal, close the lid.
2. The Error message "Col Ink Vol Unknown" should still appear.
3. Use the "Menu" button to scroll to "Maintenance" (press "Menu" 8 times to find it), then press "OK" to conduct a "Nozzle Check" and a coloured test will print out.
4. The Error message will still appear but you will be able to print using colour AND with black and white. For some silly reason the Canon Pixma MP220 won't print using black and white if there is no coloured ink...
Nope. The ink levels cannot be reset on refills for this type of cartridge. As long as your printer still prints you should be good. If it doesn't print you either need to go get another refill or a Canon brand cartridge.
Where is the reset button on the mp220. there isnt a button called this
is there a way around this
