8GB Kingston Data Traveller only has 101mb available!

Hi there.
I bought a blue coloured 8gb Kingston Data Traveller USB flashdrive about a week ago. However it seems deffective. When I try to transfer data to it, it doesn't accept anything above 101mb, saying the USB is full. I have checked properties and it is in fact the case. I have reformatted the pen over and over and cannot get the 8gb space available or accessed. Can you help me out? Can it be a partition problem? If so, what software do I use?

    Hi Azeem.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I will try the software you have suggested. Just one more naive question. Where can I find the Disk Manager software you suggested? Could you maybe supply me with a link?
I will try it and then send you feedback on my success.
    Thanks once again,
    Cristina

Hi Cristina,
This is Azeem Inam. your data traveller does not accept data over 101MBs. There can be two reasons for this problem. 1. there may be a virus that has provided a limitation on the copying facility. 2. This can be a partition problem. All you need to do is to use the software called DM (Disk manager). This is a DOS versioned software. Go into its advance installation option and then accept the hard disk kingston data traveller. It will take you to another menu showing the partition styles you may choose. you'll have to choose FAT32 type. then in the next menu you'll have to choose partition size by pressing enter button. and then accepting format you are done. it will start working as new again. Thanks for consulting your problem.

Kingston Data traveller USB password reset

Not knowing the model # makes it difficult to give you a difinitive answer. Kingston's support docs all say that after x mny failed logins the device will have to be formatted.
The default # of failed logins seem to be 10.
I think you're out of luck.
