I found a trick to make it work. Fill in the color cartridge with 70%(or higher) alcohole, put the cartridges back in the printer and wait for a while. Guest what, it moves back the happy face and works! Since I am only needing black and white printing, this saves me a bunch of $$. I found a trick to make it work. ya u need now inkjet cartridge or ur printers card dead 1st chack put black cartridge in ur printers and color cartridge out then see green light blinks if blinks black cartridge out and color cartridge put in the printers then u know thanls
This is typical cartridge problem.Which cartridge changed? This printer can print with the only one cartridge inside it, whatever which.Try this: Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover. If blinking stops replace color cartridge. If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color. If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges. If this not help your printer has problem in carriage unit and need repair.
..."Open the ink supply andgently move the ink cartridges to the left.
Then reach in to the rightside and you'll find a small (1/2 x 1 inch)
sponge. Push it down andoff/on the machine. try it now. or ...go to
where I found out more than I should know about Canon's and where I got

luck.
Gill: I have the same problem as Sheillz (Sept.15, 2009)
I
have installed a color ink printer and both black and color lights of cartriges
are still blinking and I cannot print anything at all. Not even a test
page.
Try cleaning the print head first in the software options on the printer and then lightly with a qtip and alcohol or electronics cleaner. The ink jets sometimes dry up and cause the nozzels to get plugged.
The light you describe is the ink light. When that light is blinking, try this.
Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge. Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).
IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too. This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full. You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.
Unfortuantely , to solve the issue , sadly, yes you will have to replace the empty cartridge to continue to use the printer in a normal fashion. Its a sneaky and dirty trick many printer manufactuers do to make more money off of the customer through the purchase of printer ink.
you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.
Hi Greenhorn,
Your info is slightly conflicting - I think.
As I remember the C60 has just 2 LED's:
1 - Green for Power
2 - Red for Error
The third button - Cartridge exchange - has no LED
Now it is a while since I looked at a C60 and my brain leaks like a sieve, but that's the way I remember it and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
The error codes I remember are:
Printer status - Indicators - Priority
Power - Error
Power ON condition On -
Ink sequence Blink -
Ink Cartridge change mode Blink -
Data processing Blink -
Paper Out *1 - On
Paper jam condition *1 - On
Ink end (Black) *1 - On -> Blink
Ink level low (Black) - Blink-> Blink
Ink end (Color) *1 - On -> Blink2
Ink level low (Color) - Blink-> Blink2
Ink end (Black and Color) - On -> On
No Ink Cartridge (Black or Color) *1 - On
Maintenance request (Ink Overflow Countererror) *1 Alt Blink Alt Blink
Fatal error *1 Off On
Special setting Blink2 Blink2
