Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

My Kenmore 70 series washer sounds like it has something stuck in it and makes a grinding and buzzing noise the agitator will barely move but the washer will drain but not spin

That could be the motor coupler. It could also be the transmission. It is pretty easy to fix. I recently worked on my brother's washer:

Look for a blown capacitor if the other components are all fine.

Kenmore 70 series washer making knocking noise when spinning. It washes the clothes fine but it just started making these horrible knocking noises when it spins and agitates. I tried holding the agitator...

Check to see that the springs that hold the tub assembly to the frame are attached. Sounds like one may have come off on the machine.

The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem? The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.

i have a kenmore 70 series washer model 10020722990
it will fill with water but will not wash. if you put it on spin the water will drain but it will not spin. it sounds like the motor turning. is it a clutch that has broken.

What u have just described are failed agitator pawls/dogs, relatively easy fix. The repair comes as a kit. Most appliance repair houses will have the kit, if not www.searspartsdirect.com will have them

Easiest would be to check the agitator pawls....if the problem isn't there, then it will be a more difficult repair.
