ViewSonic VX2450WM - sound disappeared. I connected the monitor today, it worked fine. I then tried to connect external speakers and boom - the sound is gone. I can only hear the sound from the laptop. As soon as I connect the sound cable from the laptop to the monitor - it disappers.

Great post a Viewsonic with sound , none of mine have it.
2007 monitor old, most are dead now.
I hate those dinky shrill speakers inside.
NO PC told (a nebular Laptop)
no OS told
but windows has a sound mixer that allows me to pick 4 or more sound output devices, 1 at a time not all at once.
well when you connect the external speakers to any PC
3.5mm phone jack outputs, that switch in that jack cuts the sound inside the laptop dead BY DESIGN.
why would you want trash shrill speakers inside the laptop with
super find sounding external speakers at the same time.
trash + great sound = trash. why want this??? no body does.
nor if you plug in head phones to same jack the same thing happens speakers go dead, for privacy, (you and the others around)
lets see
external speakers not told, usb or 3.5mm phone plugs.
headphones USB or 3.5mm or both>?
and the View sonic has speakers? let me look now.
the manual shows
(stereo mini jack, for VX2450wm-LED only<<< got this?
the manual shows 3.5mm mini audio in jack
this means this opted monitor as amplified speakers inside
and when connected to phones on any laptop the laptop for sure has its internal speakers muted,

NO textual speakers told. besides monitors
all external speakers must have and amp , audio power amp
or the speaker are dead.
the phone jacks NOT drive any raw wired speakers ever.
same with desktop green rear jack is line out or phones.
not raw spearks
if you do have AMP speaker it needs to have power to run..
AC or DC power packs.
the amp must be good, some old ones are not.
it must amplified the sound to the actual speakers.
the switch in the 3.5mm phones jack is hardware
and disables the internal LAP speakers by Design.
make sure the sound mixer is set to the correct output;.\

SOURCE: Viewsonic VA1912WB error says analog signal

I had a Gateway 19" TFT that did the same thing.
Does the power light stay on? If so, you more than likely have "dry" solder joints at the inverters. Take it apart & shoot a little solder on the inverter solder joints. Good as new now. The solder joints dry out because of the high heat generated. This is a very common problem.

SOURCE: DVI connection fault

I had the same problem, you must call Viewsonic to change your screen. The DVI input on the screen is dead.

SOURCE: Viewsonic VE175b Monitor Powers Up Doesn't Display Windows OS

Hi; I had the same problem. I know that sometimes devices require you to perform some type of '10-30 second' "hold" of one or some of its buttons in order to 'reset' the device, so to speak. So, having said that, try this:

1) Turn your monitor off (no green light) but leave it plugged in.
2) Leave it off for about 10 seconds.
3) Hold the [2] button on your monitor (the one to the immediate LEFT of your monitor's POWER button).
4) While holding the [2] button, now press and HOLD your POWER button.
5) Wait for your image to appear and STAY onscreen for about 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
6) Your monitor should retain its onscreen image.

Hope this helps! Good Day to all!

SOURCE: No sound when using HDMI cable but I do have sound if using DVI

Is your computer configured to send sound through the HDMI cable as its output device? This might be a setting within your sound card properties.

SOURCE: resolution problem of viewsonic VG2021m as the second monitor of thinkpad t61p

Go into the NVidia control panel, create a custom resolution (for the ViewSonic VG2021m, you want 1400x1050, 60Hz), and test it.  When the test asks you if it looks ok and you click "yes", it *still* is not activated-- it is simply added as one of the resolutions available for the monitor, and goes back to the same setting you had before... so it looks like it didn't work.  But then, if you go under "Change resolution", you'll see your new setting is available there.  Choose it, and you are good.

It's working for me, on my T61.

Hi , I own a viewsonic LCD monitor model va1912w. My system has Windows XP. There is no sound from the monitor even after connecting the sound cable from CPU to monitor's audio jack. I have already...

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/downloads/drivers/?prod_name=1912

Try the above link for Vista or XP drivers which may be used with Windows 7 in some cases.

The va1912wb came up when I searched under 1912.

This driver is available directly from the viewsonic.com site.

Uninstall the other driver if possible.

Won't power on. No lights at all.

You have done Most of it...
You have tried to swap the Power cords that work fine with the Other Monitors and If that do not work there are 2 things externally that could be bad.

1-> The Power Button.
2-> The Port where you would Plug in the Power cable.

so Check if the Power button is stuck or Broken, or Loose out of control.
besides that If with one of the good power cord connected when you connect an external Head phone and you receive some Kind of sound out of it.,
It could be because of the Display settings.
you can try the monitor self test.
By having the Monitor Unpluged from the computer but still connected to the power.
you would see a message that shows, that the VGA cable is not pluged in if that shows your Monitor is fine otherwise it is BAD.
