Most cars you don't have to remove the entire panel. the side mirror has it's own small panel. It is just clipped on. just pry it off to access the nut to remove the wing.

There should be a dimmer switch like a roller on the dash or connected to the light switch. It may be also in the form of a button you push upwards to brighten and downwards to dim. Let me know how it turns out, The Raz
