The tv makes a little sound from the speakers when you first plug it in but thats it. Can't hear the relay click. Does anyone know if the hv splitter of flyback was bad if would still click on power up.

Re: I have a rca p52939 that won't turn on.
Failure of the HV splitter was a very common problem when I was doing these big screens on the road. The set won't come on if the splitter shorts. We used to test if that was the cause by pulling the HV input lead out of the splitter (leaving it still inside the plastic cup so it wouldn't arc anywhere) and turning the set on. Most often the set would fire right up (without picture of course).
I believe the RCA part number for the splitter is 205064, and it's available from a number of sources. I'm not home right now so I can't check. If I have the number wrong I'll post a follow-up comment.
I have to unplug my tv to turn it off. And when i turn it back on i have to plug the tv back in and power it on with the channel up button. And then it takes along time for a picture to show on the tv. The picture goes in and out. I never had taken the Demo pin out and i think you were suppose to replace it with something. What is wrong with my picture.

No there is no reset button . you would unplug the set for 5 min's and this will allow a reset . . with the symptoms you give id say you have a shut down issue . the set has detected a error and is putting it into a shut down sequence to protect it self from major damage .
Even with the tv turned off, the power supply is still active. It's supplying voltages to the microcontroler, that's why each time you press the power button on remote the tv respond by turning on. First check the power cord to be well connected in the power-bar and if it's ok...well the power supply is defective and due to the high risk of electric shock i suggest you to call a technicien.
P.S. I respond here because I don't know why our chat session got disconected.
Does the Tv pick up a signal ? ( picture/sound ) If not, you may have a tuner problem as the screen will default to blue with no signal apparent. Could also be a cable problem. Hope this helps
A chirping sound from a TV set is the switch mode power supply trying to start up, but gets shut down because of a major short inside the set or in one of the circuits.. Most likly in this set, the horizontal output transistor is shorted because of a defective flyback transformer. Thats whats the common problem is with this set. A repair like this, if this is the only parts that are bad, will run you about 300 to 400 bucks or so. In some cases, not many but a few times, I have seen poor solder connections on L401 cause the horizontal output transistor to go bad. There are no user replacable parts inside this set, so please play it safe and seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. Good luck
