Maya 6.5 product Serial Key valid on install but invalid on web

I am trying to install maya 6.5 unlimited on my mac and the Product Serial Number works in the install window but then when it reroutes me to Alias website it says the Number is invalid so i cant send off for my activation key!! please help i just want to animate!!

    The box of the TV card is there but I seem not to find the serial that's being requested when I install it.
