Also had the problem. I found that the LNT did not find north unless the bottom of the Smartfinder is close to parallel with the ground.

SOURCE: problem with lx200gps meade telescope

It might be a voltage or electrical current problem. Make sure your DC power supply is between 12 and 14 volts. Make sure all electrical connections are tight. Where the power cord plugs into the connection panel, make sure the center pin on the panel fits tightly into the plug. It is a Radio Shack type "N" plug. If tou still have a problem, remove the bottom plate from the scope base and make sure all the connectors are properly seated on the circuit board. Check the connector on the end where the black and red wires are. That is a main power connector and if it is too loose it will not conduct enough current. There can be enough voltage drop that the drive motors won't operate, or they will and the scope will slew uncontrollaby. Be careful handling the wires so that you don't damage them. Good luck, Dave

SOURCE: Meade DS-2000 Manual Doesn't have info. about Meade Ds-2130

ds-2000 refers to the model line of the scope. ds-2130 the 130 refers to the diameter of the objective lens in mm. I have a ds-2114. Where the objective lens is 114 mm in diameter. as far as the manual goes everything else should be the same.

SOURCE: Fist time alignment issues.

Did you calibrate the motors and TRAIN the drives? If not do these first--

During alignment the "alignment" stars may or may NOT be visible in the eyepiece-- CENTER the star. Once you do this with two stars your gotos should be good.

When I turn on the telescope nothing happens. It's lit up red, but no message or alignment? I hear a beep and it lights up in red, and that's all.

Connection between controller and scope is bad. This happens often. May have to open scope base and clean or re-solder connector

We have a Meade LS telescope. When power on ... no sound or instruction is heard ... the hand box only power on with red background led but nothing is appeared ... what the problem

Two possibilities- corrupted firmware and or a bad hand controller cable. Re-load the firmware; if that does not do it then get a new hand controller cable. Beyond that it will be bad electronics inside the scope and it will need to be sent back to Meade for repair.

2 questions concerning Meade LXD55 astronomical telescope. Meade apparently no longer supports this instrument and I have been unable to find the answers to these questions. #1: The central screw holding...

Doubtful you will find just a reticle- for the polar finder. However you may be able to buy a complete polar alignment scope-- new-- or used on Astromart.com.

Best place o find out about that spring is on the Yahoo Group LXD55 tech group-- Post your question there as they have specific knowledge about that mount. And also look at this special LXD55 web site for many tech tips.

Optical alignment (centering).

Your ETX Maksutov scope cannot BE optically aligned. Only by Meade.

Do you mean aligning on two stars so the gotos work fine? We need more information and do not understand your question.

I'm having problems allining my telescope keep saying below horzi

Did you read the manual completely-- most of the DS telescope series require that you-- eneter Time, Date, and Site, set Daylight Savings Time, and TRAIN the scope.

Then you select Automatic alignment and center the two alignment stars-- these scopes usually have a HOME position which you should read about.
