Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

Try the format, aspect buttons on the Box remote, if the line is there on every input and effect the TV menu your panel (screen) is bad.
A new panel would cost as much as a new TV.

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.

That symptom may cause by the main board or t-con board, I suggest you do software up grade first.
