I droped my WD external hard disk

I have a Western Digital 160GB and I drop it on the floor from my coffee table accidently. When I tried plugging it in, it lighted up but it doesn't appear in My Computer. It seems like itcannot be detected by my laptop. Is there a way to repair it or at least recover my data?

Sounds like maybe you damaged the case itself. Actually all that is is a fancy hard drive external enclosure. If you open it up. And get the hard drive out. You could hook it up to another computer. And then you should be able to get your data. If the hard drive was running when it fell it may have problems. But, if the hard drive was off the drive is probably fine.

The WD hard disk 160GB is not recognized after plugging into USB

It is very possible that your BIOS will not support a large hard drive. Without more information on your system it will be hard to diagnose your problem.

Accidently uninstalled Western Digital program

google western digital and dowload the drivers again, then reinstall from disc if you have one! (do this with the drive un-plugged) when you then re-boot and plug it in all should come right!

Need help to locate Western Digital Passport 160GB External Drive

Could be a hard drive logic board issue since the computer bios recognizes the drive but the computer operating system does not. Not good.

I just drop my WD external hard disk (Please help)

When you drop your hard drive for more than a few inches, you just have to face the fact that the HD is dead, period. If for some miracle the drive still works, then it's the work of Jesus/Shiva/whatever deity of your choice. I'm sorry I can't offer anything more constructive. See Myth 24 on this page:
