Throughout the day I have to completley reinstall the software in order to print. I originally had the printer installed on our server, so I switched to my computer and I still had to reinstall the software multiple times a day in order to print. After rebuilding the server I reinstalled the software on the server, but I still have to reinstall the software multiple times a day. I can't find any information on lexmark's website regarding this or any new drivers or anything.
By software are you referring to the printer drivers? What error messages or behaivure are you observing?

If you?re messing with a server then I assume you?re a network administrator but even so I?ll list everything I would do even the basic stuff that you have probably already tried:
-Reconnect to the server but don?t use the plug-and-play installation, reinstall and see if the server can print normally. The default printer settings have always worked for me for testing purposes, but I would check them to make sure nothing odd is set such as availability or security settings.
-Try physically connecting to a workstation lpt1 port instead of the USB. I?ve run into weird USB issues from time to time and parallel port printing is a fail safe for me.
-Try reinstalling on a Win XP workstation making sure you are using a driver from this page:http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/do... . I?m leaning towards the third one down, a PCL driver certified by Microsoft. Its an ?old? enough printer so you might even want to try letting the operating system search the Microsoft update site for a driver on file.
-If you?ve been using the same workstation all along to connect to the printer (network and local) I would try another unrelated workstation. There could be something odd going on there.
Try any suggestions that are new to you and let me know what happens. I should have a less hectic day on Thursday so I?ll try to monitor this a little more closely to give timely responses. Good luck.
Are your workstations printing direct to the printer to to a server print queue? Also are you using W2k3 as a server?

By software I am referring to the Drivers/MarkVision/Utilities CD that came with the printer.
There are no error messages that pop up or anything, the printer just decides not to print anymore, it acts as though nothing was ever sent to it to be printed and the only way I can get the printer to print any documents that were sent to it is to stick the CD in the server and reinstall. When this happens the printer doesn't start up and sound like it is going to print, it doesn't calibrate or say "busy" The green light doesn't flash like it usually does before printing. It just sits there and says "ready" or "power saver"
I have tried to contact Lexmark and all they'll tell me is that I have the latest version of the CD.
It is actually connected through an ethernet connection with an IP address, not the lpt1 or USB.
Later I will try to physicall connect the printer to my computer and see what happens. It will be impossible to physically connect the server to the printer (different floors of the building)
The printer is installed on the server and shared. All of the workstations have the printer added by browsing the shared printers on the server. It is a windows 2003 server
