Sony GV-D1000 Powers on, will play memory stik, but not tape

Unit is flashing C:31:23 in upper right corner, as well as an "up" arrow, underlined in the middle of the blue screen. Unit will eject, but will not rewind, fast forward, play, etc.

C:31:23 error code means problem is in Supply Reel section.
If you are tech person you might got the point.
Unit has mechanical problem in supply reel area and reel pulse is not being generated as supply reel table may be stuck due to back tension.

You need a firewire cable.
Most likely a 4 to 6 pin unit unless the Mac has an 800 port, then use a 4 to 9 pin.

Flashing yellow triangle with bar underneath and a code in the upper right hand corner C:32:72

The C:32 is an indication that there is no movement of a motor. The 72 indicates which one. I don't have the service manual handy, so I don't know which motor is involved. These units are relatively senstitive to alignment and therefore arenot typically DIY repair units. I will locate the service manual and try to post more details later,

C:31:22 is stand for Take up Reel not functioning.It might be for pinch roller or Capstan motor

Screen has error message and won't play tape. What is wrong?

Hi,
This message appears when the loading tape path become misaligned (mechanically unstable). Your camera just need mechanical adjustment from any expert and it will work fine again. Contact any service man for this.

launch video editing software...it should be able to see your deck. none of my three macs "recognize" the deck, but finalcut pro sees and can control the deck once it is connected and turned on

Irrational Battery message on Sony GV-D1000 My Sony GV-D1000, which has worked just fine for years, now exhibits this behavior: Whenever I try to rewind more than a few minutes on the tape, it stops, displays the message "For InfoLithium Battery Only" and then shuts itself off. NOTE: I have never used a battery with this deck, I power it only with the supplied power adapter. It is my editing deck.

Sony GV-D1000 won't record through firewire from FCP I'm trying to save to tape from Final Cut Pro 5 back to the miniDV tape via the Sony GV-D1000 but it isn't working. Perhaps I don't have the settings in FCP correct.
