Movie links will not delete

Ihave been able to connect usb hard drives to my Acer. unfortunately the unit will not delete the links created to the movies that were on the drive - even though I unmounted the drive. So there are all these links inside the multimedia player that does not work. Recently I removed then replaced the SD card and now have two links to the movies on it, on link from before and a new one since putting the SD card back in. How do I get rid of these dead links?

SOURCE: SD CARD is not working

I reccomend that if you can find a driver for your sd card slot, install it so that your slot could be compatible with all sd cards including HCSD cards.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire card reader not acknowledging SD card

go to Wal-Mart or K-Mart and such, you can get a SD reader/ writer (such as Targus, about $9 USD, what I use) and put your SD card into it, then plug into USB (USB 2.0 is current standard, but will work with USB 1.1, just slower). PC will ask if you want to play/record from/to the removable drive, select "take no action" then go to the "my computer" icon (or what ever you have named it) double click the drive letter for the flash/SD card (E,F,G etc.). open the file folder that you want to copy from <usually something like "100MEDIA" or such> (I STRONGLY recommend that you "COPY FILE(S)" and NOT "move file(s)" as that if something crashes you still HAVE the orig. files) select to copy to the correct drive letter/ file name(s) and PLEASE remember to "remove hardware safely" or you could KILL the files and/or the drive(s) that you were using. (did that TWICE before I realized what I was doing wrong). good luck!

SOURCE: aspire 5610z card reader doesnt show up. Vista home premium

Did you ever solved your problem? I noticed the above response is just a spam ad.

I have same problem with Aspire 3680. I recently replaced the HDD and reinstalled Vista Home, all drivers from Acer has been loaded. I even updated the BIOS, updated Vista service packs and all patches.

Sent email to Acer, but of course they want $60 per 1/2 hour. And from the past experience it will take about 2 hours on the phone. Also they have no support forum, and support sucks.

So I'm still stumped. This SD problem with Acer is the only one I couldn't resolve of all brands I've worked on.

Acer Aspire 5002WLMi Laptop won't recognize full 320 Gigabytes of new PATA hard drive. It's always been running a 80 Gigabyte 4200 RPM but that drive is old...a 2005 HD. New WD320 only reads 137...

The BIOS in the ACER determines the maximum size of the hard drive it can support.
Check the laptop's specification to see the max size you can install in this model laptop.
It appears that the max size your laptop can support is 140 Gb (unformatted). 137Gb formatted.

I suggest you install a hard drive up to 140 Gb capacity in your laptop and place the 320 Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and when you attach this hard drive to the USB port in your ACER laptop then you will be able to get the full 320 Gb capacity after you delete the partition and create a 320 Gb partition and format the hard drive.

How Do I Correct the Error and Recover an Acer Computer hard drive?

In order to correct the hard drive partitions so the recovery program will work, you can use a variety of tools listed below.

1) Active@ KillDisk - Use their free killdisk program to wipe the hard drive clean off all partitions.

2) Ubuntu or another Linux alternative bootdisk. Create a boot disk for the Ubuntu Live CD and boot the computer from it. During the boot process it will ask to "Try Ubuntu without any change to your computer". This is the option you want. Once Ubuntu loads, find the partition editor program under the System, Administration menu..

To delete a partition, right click on the partition that you wish to delete and select "Delete" from the menu. Once you are sure that you've selected the correct partition, and are positive that you have backed up all the files or data that you wish to save from that partition, click the "Apply" button at the top of the Window, and the partition will be deleted.

3) Use the Acer Hard Drive Format Utility, on some versions of Acer computers when you have the option to create Recovery disks, the system creates a hard drive format utility CD as well. Boot from this CD and format the hard drive.
The utility will recreate 1 partition (C: drive), after the partition has been created, you'll be able to reload the HDD with the backup media. The file is an ISO image for CD media only (not compatible with floppy diskettes). Create a CD disc from the ISO image file using a CD writer program on another computer.

Once the hard drive partitions have been deleted by any of the utilities above, you can proceed with rebooting the computer using the Acer System CD and proceeding with the complete recovery of the system.

Upon startup before anything else happens (except asking me if I want to press f2 for setup) my aspire one netbook says: For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller... v1.0.0.5(1/22/09) check cable...

This means you should install an Operating System.
If your notebook doesn't have a dvd drive you can install the Operating System with an external drive (dvd, USB flash drive or hard drive). and press F12 when it starts to select the booting device.
Follow the link below to find out how to create a USB flash drive bootable (also works on hard drives):

My Acer Aspire 6920 gets the error message "A disk read error occurred Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" Can I do anything to solve this issue?

first thing to check is if you have a USB drive (or thumb drive) plugged in. This often creates an issue with booting. If you do not then unfortunately you have a hard drive issue that may be major, but may be minor. Your best bet is to find a local support person, if you send it back to the manufacturer they may just wipe it and reload. This issue may be physical or created by a virus. Hope things work out
