I cooked all day last Saturday and range was working fine. On Sunday AM, I attempt to begin heating food for my daughter's 16th birthday party and the start button on my Whirlpool electric range will not work. All of the other buttons work and the stove top is working. On Monday morning I notice that the control panel on the front of my Samsung refrigerator is blinking 88 98 and has also malfunctioned. Both appliances are less than a year old and I do have repair men coming this week. My question is could this be coincidence or should I be concerned that this is related to another yet undiscovered problem?
The only thing abnormal I can think of that happend last week was that my wired in smoke detector started beeping low battery in the middle of the night. I disconnected the electrical wires to stop the noise since I did not have batteries on hand. On Sunday AM I had my son replace it on the fixture after I removed the wire from the detector. The wired remained in the ceiling and it beeped once when he put it back up. I am assuming the small contacts where I removed the wire came in contact with the wires in the ceiling. I have since capped off the ceiling wires with those little plastic caps. (Don't worry -- the smoke detector is in an upstairs hallway with two other functioning detectors and I will replace the batteries and rewire this one over the weekend).
Any help or advice anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
By the way -- both the refrigerator and range are on seperate circuit breakers. I turned off each breaker for 15 minutes and turned them back on but that did not correct anything.
Good day,
