This Acer Aspire laptop does not shut down correctly. It happens when the unit hibernates, when the clamshell is closed and even after a shutdown when laptop is turned off. You can restart after a successful start. Takes a half-hour after "attempting repairs" The hard drive is cleaned of temporary files and internet files, cache, registry with ccleaner, checked for spyware, suspicious software with RogueKiller, ComboFix, and Security Essentials full scan. Windows 7 operating system, Updates are complete and check disk has been done. No hardware glitches can be observed. No blinks, interruptions, or overheating.
First remove any new, or unnecessary hardware, extra mouse / keyboard / monitors / dongles / and even the battery.
Try again, and if possible, get into 'safe mode' by pressing F8.
If it is stable in safe mode, you at least can try removing devices under, START / CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE / DEVICE MANAGER. Then whilst disabling various devices, try booting again into normal mode, and obtain a new, AND correct driver for whatever piece of hardware was deemed to be at fault.
