Hi there my tv casually has pink and green lines outlining every object on the screen. I also tried adjusting some setting with a cross section, adjusting red ad blue hues. It looked worse, not only the 3D...

There is a kit available to repair the convergence circuit...this is a convergence problem...I've seen a number of these sets where the convergence IC's go bad over time...this set is about 8 years old and about time for these components to wear out...you can go to tvrepairkits.com where you can get the parts for 65.00
here is the sku# TV-KIT-2013_50UX57B
all you will then need to do is either replace the parts yourself or have someone who knows about electronics and soldering to install the parts. Once the parts are installed you may need to go to the setup menu and reset the convergence(the crosshatch thing you adjusted)...here you are looking to get as perfect of a white line and as straight and uniform as possible

I have an RCA model #HD61W66 flat screen. This morning when I turned it on it went all 3d like and there was red/green/blue lines at the top of the screen, there was also outlines of the people on the...

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Blue outline around images on tv

Sounds like a convergence problem. I can tell you that the site that Jean posted will not fix this problem and could even make things worse. That site pertains to a specific problem that is common in some Sony sets and should not be used to try to fix any other issue.

Please keep in mind many things can go wrong with TV sets and you should really do a lot of research before attempting any adjustment and or repair. There are high voltages present and they can reside even when the set is unplugged.

Red outlines in the picture

somewhere in the tv menu there is a place to make video adjustments. one should be for aligning the color guns. one is for red and the other two are green and blue. it will give you a cross in the center of the screen. it should also give you prompts to adjust the lines for centering and to save changes. this happens eventually on all rear projection tv sets.

Samsung HCM5525W TV red blue outlines on images

The Samsung has bad convergence IC's most likly. This should be repair ONLY by a trained technician as a TV set is not a place to experiment or tinker with because of the extremly high voltage inside. This repair should cost you in the range of 250 to 400 bucks . Good Luck
