Digital display and computer board needs to be replaced

Alarm goes off and display alternates between CE and temperature and according to manual a contact service technician is required. We have done this and have found out that it will cost over $300. to fix. This Kenmore Freezer was purchased from Sears Aug/07 for $700.
Unfortunately for me I did not purchase an extended warranty and the warranty was only good for 1 year (6 mo. now past) As Sears has basically told me this freezer was made by Fridaire and I didn't get the exended warranty Oh well .I would like to know if this is an on going problem as I have been told by someone else they had the same problem.Did I buy a lemon

No, not necessarily a lemon. With the higher percentage of electronic controls being used in appliances these days it happens - and is no small cost. My advice to you is bite the bullet and DON'T repair it, buy a new one, with an extended service warranty.

Error code b on kenmore chest freezer

LOW / NO BATTERY ALARM
The Low/No battery alarm will activate when the
power level of the battery becomes low. The display
will alternate between "b" (Battery, See figure 8) and
the cabinet temperature, the red alarm light will
become illuminated and the control panel will beep
every five seconds. To stop the audible alarm (beep),
press the "ALARM RESET" button. The red alarm
light will remain on and the display will continue to
flash until a new battery is installed. This same alarm
will activate if there is no battery installed

What does CE mean on an old Kenmore upright freezer

CE probably means a Communication Error between the high and low voltage boards of the freezer. First check if your freezer uses a 9V backup battery and replace that with a new one. Next check the wiring for corrosion or damage. Check where the wires connect to the boards and inside the door. (Note: the high voltage board controls the compressor.) You may want to check that the freezer is holding the correct temperature with a refrigerator/freezer thermometer.

Please add a comment with the model number of the freezer (including the three digit prefix) if you'd like me to check for a parts diagram and parts list.

I hope this helps.

My kenmore upright freezer has a digital display that shows alarms. it is showing a ff and a ce code. can you tell me what they mean?

You have a bad freezer fan and need to replace it. The fan is located behind the back wall INSIDE the freezer. The unit will warm up a little because the air wont circulate the way it is supposed to. You can try unplugging fridge for 30 seconds to reset the control board u can do it yourself although I don't recommend it because u need actual diagnosis but this seems it hope it helps try buying part from sears or amazon

I have a Kenmore Frostless Model #: 253.21041104 The temp. alarm keeps going off. The red light blinks and alarm goes off. Owners manual says that it is from warm conditions, but there are no warm...

Best thing to do first is get a thermometer to be sure the temperature is correct. Items still freeze at higher temperatures. If you have ice cream and it is soft, then you have a temp problem.

MY FREEZER5 ALARM GOES OFF BUT THE FREEZER IS RUNN[NG AND THE TEMP IS 32 o

Fault in the controller board as it must be tripping off the alarm without the sensor giving the signal.
You will need to check the conttroller board for sorting out , other wise just disconnect the alarm as the freezer working and the thermostat is controlling the temperature correctly

Kenmore Freezer display alternating between temperature and CE

Our techs at our shop could not figure this out either but since the Kenmore was made my Frigidaire and we were Frigidaire warranty we called them.

This is what they had to say:

The code stands for bad wiring. In other words, there is a wire broke, corroded, etc. The wire problem is normally near the bottom hinge. The solution is to find the problem wire or if its in the door replace the entire door. Our service guys had found the problem wire near the alarm's power source.

Hope this helps!

Frigidaire Upright freezer with Beeping Display

First make sure you have a good 9v battery installed. If it is ok then the problem will probably be in the display board or the wiring connectors between the boards. CE is communication error. If your model has the electronic tempature control instead of mechanical thermostat the problem could be in there. My bet is a bad connection at display board.
