The faxes I recieve are illegible. Small text and hard to read.

Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot a fax related problem for a pest control company that I work for. A technician is having a hard time reading his faxes as they come in through his machine (Brother Personal Fax-275) since his text is either too small, spaced apart and there are occasions where it appears the text is encrypted. Please help me out as I do my own troubleshooting.

Sometimes you can fix a problem like this by unplugging the machine from the electrical plug and letting it sit for 3 minutes unplugged. The machine will then automatically reset. After the three minutes go by plug the unit back in and ask some one to send you a trial fax. hope this solves your problem.

YOUR LOGO IS PROBABLY A LIGHTER COLOR THAT THE MACHINE CANNOT PICK-UP.
TRY CHANGING "DENSITY" SETTING BEFORE SENDING.
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TEST THIS IN THE "COPY" Mode before sending.

sending fax is free, however you have to have a dedicated fax line with your phone company to recieve.

Cannot fax out security question

the phone company had inadvertently dropped long distance on my fax line. Cannon support identified that as the problem and the phone company got my long distance back and every thing worked

I live in Saskatchewan Canada and can send Faxes to British Columbia, but I cannot recieve from there.

Make sure whoever sends you the fax is using the full fax number - if that isn't the case, I would call your phone company to make sure your fax line is capable of receiving long distance calls.

Faxes are hard to read - they're smeared with ink all over.

Sounds like a fuser issue. Check the owner's manual to see if this device has a fuser. If so, try replacing it. If not, next step may be the drum.

The faxs that I am recieving are coming true with lines

It sound like it was a bad phone line and the fax is missing some of the information. It will look like half of the text was squashed. If it is always consistent check your fax line for crackling and make sure no other devices are active on the line.

this sounds like may be there is a phone line problem on those two machines or that line is there dial tone??may be you need to have local phone company check this out

Hi. Open the document control panel and look in with a flashlight and see if the jam switch is stuck. also look for a small piece of paper that might be stuck in there. The jam is in where you put documents in to fax out. Lawrence

Just change below settings

Press setup on the all in one. Navigate to Advanced Fax Setup using arrow key. Set the FAX Speed to Slow and turn off the ECM (Error Correction Mode). Try sending fax. Please simply send a fax (single page black and white text) (1-888-473-2963 . Check for the result.
