You can follow Hp's Installing and Configuring an Alternate Driver in Windows Vista. Click this link provided by HP.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808478&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=75035
Before you follow though with Hp's alternet driver site. Please run windows update for Vista un till no updates are left. If your printer still fails to run correctly than try HP's alternate drive.
Good luck & kind regaurds..

I just had an online chat with a HP Technician, who told me that in Windows Vista, we no longer can access the Toolbox. But...here's another solution...I tried it and it works perfectly. Go to this web site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpd09173&dlc=en
