The bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation.

Aspire 1700 needs to be acpi compliant, to run windows 7 help needed

Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

(ACPI) specification provides an open standard for device configuration and power management by the operating system.

Windows 7 absolutely requires ACPI 2.0 for power management.
Your laptop only supports ACPI 1.0. Windows 7 will never load

I think Vista is the most advanced version you could install.
I really like XP as the speed is so much faster.

Unable to Acces BIOS on IBM Netvista 607931u w/ Phoenix ROM BIOS

When the IBM Setup Utility program prompt is displayed, quickly press F1.
The prompt is displayed for only a short time.
if you dont see the prompt, tap F1 repeatedly as the computer starts. If it says "starting windows" you've let it go too far and will have to restart again and repeat the process to get into the bios

USB 2 PCI card installation on IBM NetVista with MS Vista

Lucy,

USB 2.0 cards require 2 IRQs.
  • 1 IRQ supports USB 1.1
  • and the other the Enhanced (USB 2.0) controller.
Installing the USB 2.0 card in a slot that does NOT share an IRQ or shares an IRQ with onboard USB produces the best result. Consult your motherboard manual or online guide to determine which PCI slot is best for you.

You should also try disabling the on board USB support from BIOS setup.

Thanks
Iqbal
