Yes CPAP machine works great if you snore regularly, but there are other products which work more efficiently then CPAP machine. The main reason for snoring is the insufficient supply of air to the respiratory organs. In this situation, a person is unable to breathe properly and it causes snoring. A CPAP machine or continuous positive airway pressure system will deliver a steady stream of air creating enough pressure to keep the airway open preventing collapse. CPAP machine is efficient tool if you are suffering from sleep apnea, but this product is also have drawbacks. Itts better to consult your doctor proceeding with a CPAP purchase.

FOR ME I HAD TO HAVE A SLEEP STUDY DONE. IT IS A 2 DAY PROCESS. THEY HOOK UP ALL SORTS OF PROBS ON YOU AND MONITOR YOUR BREATHING. THE TEST WILL SHOW HOW MANY TIMES YOU STOP BREATHING. THEN YOU GO IN ON ANOTHER DAY AND THEY TRY DIFFERENT MASK DURING THE STUDY. ONCE YOU GET ACCUSTOM TO IT THEY MONITOR YOUR SLEEP AGAIN. THIS TIME, IF IT WORKS, YOU SLEEP THE REST OF THE NIGHT. FOR ME IT WAS WORTH IT.

The other end of the elbow will not fit into the tubing. Do I need to take the plastic piece off?

There should be a clear plastic end on the mask tubing. This fits inside of the white rubbery tubing that fits onto the machine. It is a tight fit the first time or two you put it on.Try sliding it in one side at a time.

I went to my doctor to complain about my snoring and he said he thinks I may have OSAS. What exactly is that?

OSAS stands for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. This is a condition where you stop breathing during sleep for more than 10 seconds, more than 5 times an hour. Snoring can sometimes be an indication of OSAS which is potentially dangerous, so it's important that your doctor follows up with some tests.

There seem to be a lot of different types of CPAP breathing machines for snoring and sleep apnea. Can anyone tell me the difference between them?

if you need to use a CPAP machine, then your specialist should tell you what kind of machine you need for your specific case. But watch this video on youtube from the CPAP website. It gives a basic overview about the different types of machines available;

I am supposed to start using a CPAP machine to help with my snoring etc but I am so shocked by the price of them. Is there any way that you can rent the machines? I live in the UK

CPAP machines are a really big financial investment and some people find that they just can't get used to using them. That's why renting is a really good idea as it allows you to take you time to get used to it without feeling the financial pressure of having bought one.

The British snoring site have an option to rent - take a look;

On average how much do CPAP breathing machines cost to buy?

There isn't really an average price as there are so many different types of machines and masks. When I was looking to buy one they seemed to range from around $400 to $1,000.

I suggest that you ask your specialist to tell you exactly what kind of help you need for your specific condition ie is it apnea or just snoring etc and from there you can start narrowing down your shopping options.

What is CPAP? I know it's something to do with sleeping and snoring.

CPAP stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. It involves wearing a pressurized mask over your face while you sleep at night to help force air through the airways.

CPAP is used to treat sleep apnea and heavy snoring but the machine is very noisy and it's not comfortable to sleep with, so it's worth trying other solutions before turning to CPAP for help.
