TalkSwitch 48 disconnects call after transfer

PBX will answer and trasfer the call. However, will disconnect after the handset is lifted in any extension.

Connected the phone directly to the wall outlet and it worked fine.

The TalkSwitch 48 is only 4 years old. TalkSwitch does not offer a repair service but will sell a refurbish one for $500 w/90 day warranty.

If you know of a company that may fix the PBX , please let me know.

The problem is not with the set up or trasfer option since it used to work fine. My guess something is damaged with the electronics.

None of the phone lines connected to the Talkswitch extensions get a dial tone. It's as if there is no phone line connected to the phones.

I've been unable to find a company that will fix it (Talkswitch does not reapir their systems nor do they refer to a company that does).

TalkSwitch is not worth the time or money anymore. Your best bet and money and money spent will be to go with one of the online PBX services such as RingCentral.com or FreedomVoice.com. TalkSwitch is now FortiVoice(Hmm. I wonder what happened after the company built up the TalkSwitch name most busineses knew about)

You are using the wrong option for transfer -- the one you are using is a conference which requires the person transferring the call to stay on the line. You need the option which permits a blind transfer or announced transfer. This issue is specifically discussed in the manual.

How do you set the phone to automatic pickup a ringing phone line when you lift handset?

If the ringing line is programmed into one of your dss/blf buttons it should answer when you lift the handset. Else, if it is someone else's phone ringing, lift your handset and dial 40. That will only work if allowed in the pbx programming. Hope that helps.

We used to have a guy come in whenever we had phone problems but he retired. One of my co-workers somehow tried to transfer a person to one of our other locations but in the process have put lines 1 and 5...

When you transfer a call from the outside to an outside place, it will use two external lines for the duration of the call. Sounds like there the PBX is not configured for "disconnect supervision," (DS) meaning that it can't detect when the call finished on either side, so it holds those lines in use. Even if you set DS up on the PBX, the telephone company be sure the lines are programmed for COD (clear on disconnect).

If you do external transfers, you need to set up disconnect supervision on the PBX and COD from the telephone company.

This will probably involve the services of a professional, unless you are comfortable navigating the
internal menus of the PBX.

You can clear the lines by disconnecting the amphenol connector for the outside lines for a few seconds and reconnecting it (which will disconnect all outbound calls) or by rebooting the PBX.

2 lines in use with no-one on them

This can happen if you transfer a call from outside to another outside line, or if somone has their phone set to forward to an outside line (like a cell phone)

Also, if you do not have "Disconnect Supervision" on your trunks and "Clear on Disconnect" (COD) set by the phone company, this can happen.

This sort of fix is usually done by a telephone professional, but you can do it if you specify the model number of the PBX that you have.

To clear the lines, you either need to reboot the PBX or temporarily disconnect the lines from the PBX.

On hold device

Start by looking at the system. It's pretty tough to miss the two jacks labeled MUSIC and PA.

They take a 1/8" (3.5mm) mono jack, so you can come out of your MOH device with an RCA to 1/8" or 1/8" to 1/8" cord. Your local Rat Shack should have the cables.

Answering machine not working

Open your TalkSwitch Management Software.
Go to Local Extensions/Fax
Select the extension you are using for the fax.
Click on additional settings under the activate extensions section
On the direct Line Access Tab put a check mark in the check box for "Use Direct Line Access on:" Select your Hunt Group or the number you have to dial to get an outside line.
This will force this extension to not have to dial 9 or whatever number to get an outside line for dialing out.

Talkwitch 240VS and TS400 phone

To setup the phone to automatically insert your external dial group (usually '0') before numbers, so you can save them in your phone book, and make calls from your missed / received call logs, you should check the TS400 manual.
For the TS350i you do this 1) press transfer/menu button 2) Press 4 - Call preferences menu 3) Press 8 - Access Code Prefix 4) Enter the number you use for outgoing calls (usually 0) 5) Press OK
