Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Just bought a mp3 player.I know nothing about them or computers.I followed directions, named it in "my computer". went to try to download music and i get a message that says format disk? now the...

Some mp3 players can be formatted by My Computer of Windows and after it the player can work correctly but the memory is empty and you have to copy media files to it.
Unfortunately some other players must not be formatted in this way only using its menu.
It seems your player can not work but don't worry, it can be repaired.
You should define the type of your device exactly and then you will get instructions how to do this.
Please reply.
Thanks.

I have the 2 GB flash MP3 player with FM tuner. I

Last night I replaced my battery and my unit would not go any further than the Pearl logo. So this morning I downloaded the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2556, and followed all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

start the program,
remove the battery,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button the the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

Note: when I tried this last week to fix the aac error message, it did not fix the problem with some music files. After following these steps today, plus making sure the format data box was selected, I can now play the troublemaking files without errors.

Player stopped working with rhapsody

Uh, I had a similar problem which was extremely difficult to solve. What you want to do is reformat your entire MP3 player. YOU WILL LOSE ALL THE MUSIC ON YOUR SANSA. But you can simply resynch it.

It keeps intializing

Install and run the Philips Device Manager.

Press and hold the [VOL+] button on the player whilst connecting to the PC.

Philips Device Manager will show the device connected in repair mode. Release the [VOL+] button and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-flash the firmware.

Disconnect the player when finished, and re-start it. It should briefly show initiallizing and then shut down.

Re-start the player again, and it should show "updating", then start up.

Occasionally this will cure the problem. If it doesn't try it 2 or 3 times.

If it still doesn't work, then unfortunately you will have to take it back, as there is no other known cure.

Not enough memory

What I would recommend you to do is to format your device...
Formatting the player erases all files in the player, and oftentimes this is the best option to ensure that all files are removed and any corruption eliminated. Also, it is best to format the player when in MSC mode.
2. When the appears as a drive letter (under MSC mode), right-click on that drive letter and select "Format". On the "Format" pop-up window1.gif, click "Start" to begin the format process.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts and safely remove the player from your PC when the "Format Complete" display appears.
4. Unplug the player from the PC and when the player is powered up, the message "No Files" should appear on the player's LCD screen
5. Switch the mode back to "MTP", or continue to use "MSC". Note: It is best to use "MTP" when you are transferring subscription music to the player
Then I would recommend you to get the latest firmware upgrade for your device..To get the latest firmware upgrade follow this link...
