MayTag dryer model # MDE308DAYW. Runs but won't heat. How do I start eliminating issues? wires? is there an internal fuse? does it have to be a bad element?

unplug dryer, move out from wall so you can get to the back. use a 1/4" nut driver and remove the rear panel. The heater element is on the bottom right. before replacing check for continuity. if the heater has continuity, check all of the other componets on the rear of the dryer. i would advise to check the small white thing with 2 wires connected.
Hi, Unplug the machine to do any work on it!! First thing to troubleshoot is to make all the wires are connected. If you know about electrical. There is a fused thermo protector. And also an overload protector on the motor(sometimen they reset themselves). If the timer is turning you may be able to eliminate that. This is the wiring diagram. There are many things that could keep your machine from heating. The push to start button is a very common problem.
remove 2 screws on the front cover by the floor lift bottom of front cover outward toward you and remove ,then undo wires at door switch, then remove drum belt and drum, then the heater element is at the right side near the base in a duct assembly
Take of back of unit, unplug first. Heat element is near heat duct side with wires attached to it. Unscrew and slide it out. You could also put a tester to each wire to see if you have a complete connection. If ok check thermal switches, one could have gone bad.
