Question about Humax FOXAT HDR DTV Receiver

1 Answer

Humax Freesat was working fine then lost signal and now is not reognising postcode. We have unplugged/repluged, checked all cables (all OK) and tried to restart but as it is now not recognising postcode can't get it working - any suggestions (this did happen once before months ago and I can't remember how we solved it!)

This can happen if the dish is slightly misaligned. I believe the postcode tables are read from a satellite which is about 0.3 degrees away from the Astra satellites. If your dish is slightly misaligned it may not be able to receive it correctly, also the following is the standard procedure which you've probably already been through, but I hope it helps:

1. Freesat Detection Fails / Invalid Postcode

  • Unplug the Foxsat-HDR from the mains and unplug the cable from your dish which is connected to the LNB IN
    connection.
  • Check that the "F-type" connector is firmly on the end of the cable.
  • Power on the and follow the Installation Wizard again.
2. If still not Detecting the signal or verifying postcode
  • Select NEXT through the Installation Wizard and then FINISH at the end.
  • Press the OK button to enter the SETUP menu and Select Manual Tune.
  • Select the following Transponder (11428 H 27500 A) from the list of Transponders.
  • Check that you are receiving stable levels for both Signal Strength & Signal Quality or >50%.
  • If you are not receiving sufficient Signal on this Transponder then you may require an installer to check your
Dish Alignment, LNB, cabling, or connectors.

SOURCE: we live in the postcode

If the frequencies and the other settings (polarisation, signal ratio and fec) are ok then both Humax boxes have died at the same time, possibly because of the power surge - sattellite boxes are very susceptible to damages in cases like that.
The only thing you can do is to test them by performing a full reset to factory status - the option for that is in the menu. Once the reset is done you should try to program and view at least a few channels. - if you can't pick any of then then you will know for sure that you need new boxes.

Humax FVP -4000T box worked fine at first. Now picture fragments, freezes sound continues. TV works fine not connected to box. Only 6 weeks old.

As it is so new, your best option is a replacement from Humax. This is assuming that you are sure that the signal to the unit is OK.

My Humax Freesat is brilliant. However it now comes up with the message that 'the receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak'. How can I fix this, please?

Are you sure that the dish hasn't moved, or that there is something impeding the signal to it? Sometimes leafs on trees can be the cause of a drop in signal strength.

I have a foxstat -HDR humax box and I am getting no or bad signal on the TV downstairs. I can get some channels but not all.

I suspect that the box upstairs is a Freesat box; a Freeview box requires a feed from an aerial, not a dish.

The problem you are seeing may be caused by water in the cables, if they are not sealed at the LNB. The LNB may be failing, but dish misalignment is more likely.

As there is an unused output on the LNB, try swapping one of the feeds with a poor signal to it.

How do I get connected to broad band with my humax/freesat

Is it a wired or wireless connection?

If it is wired, check that the cable works in another device (such as a laptop).

If you're using a wireless dongle in your Humax, you will need to provide the wireless key to register the dongle with the network. You may need to do this in another device (such as a laptop).

How do I update my humax box?

Hello
You have to getin to this site for a software update to your Humax Foxsat.
From ite main Menu, come to "Edit Channels" window and select the third option 'Software Update" and 'OK".
# When there is no new software to update, a popup will appear
# Software updates for products will be detected using the Automatic Update option

OTA - Over the Air Software Updates will be broadcast via satellite for the product when new updates are

My Thomson Skydigibox has just lost all sound. Terrestial is fine so the tv is ok. I can flick through all the channels on my Freesat but the sound has gone. Any advice please

Check your on screen menu for the TYPE of sound signal your box is set to process. If you have a BG setting set it to that. If that does not work....go through the optional choices and try each different setting to see which works.
