Touchpad and control buttons do not work,i keep hitting the F5 key and it tells me it is enabled checked out mouse in control panel and it tells me it is working properly, am using external mouse, this laptop is brandnew had win 8 installed then deinstalled professionally and came today from seller with touchpad initially working but left control button not working. after pressing f5 it stopped working all together
Try going to your Device manager and right click on mouse properties and click on the touch pad tab. If you look it probably has the touchpad as disabled. Sometimes this will happen when you use an external mouse. You should be able to unclick the box and change the field from disabled to enable. Its 99.9% of the time NOT your drivers just that the touchpad was disabled. I hope that helps
Contact seller. I'm a bit confused? Brand new Windows 8 install then Uninstalled ? Why? Is Win 8 still installed?
have figured out whats wrong , the drivers need updating , also they have installed a driver for a 32 bit operating system whereas the computer here has a 64 bit operatinng system. had win 7 put back on as i hate win 8 and want to delay having to use it for as long as possible, that's why it s not straight forward i reckon .

You might have inadvertedly disabled the touchpad.
1. Press Fn + F9 to enable the touchpad.
This key combination acts as a switch, enabling or disabling the touchpad: press once to enable (if it is disabled), then press again to disable.
2. If the touchpad still doesn't respond, check the settings in the mouse control utility.
Click on the touchpad icon on the right side of the task bar if you see one or click Start button/Settings/Control Panel, select the Mouse icon and Press Enter.
Change the settings if necessary.

Restore the defaults in the BIOS to begin with, this will make sure its not a setting in there that is disabling the mousepad.
Then in windows see if the touchpad is working. If not then take the keyboard out with the power turned off.
When you take the keyboard out you will see the ribbon cable that comes from underneath the touchpad. disconnect it from the motherboard and reseat it firmly back in. Then turn back on the motherboard and see if the mousepad works. If it still doesn't then try the shortcut key to enable it.
If it does't enable then that means its either going to be a mousepad problem where you would have to replace the top cover assembly or a motherboard problem cause it could be where the voltage required to run that mousepad is missing.

you did wrong things first ..
you needn't to download the driver as you are not sure of your model touchpad company. i think you have downloaded the wrong driver . first you have to knoew the company's name then go to thier official website thier check your driver version correctly. as you have a new system you needn't to download driver as they are installed when you buy it.
so try Roll Back Driver in device manager touch pad option after that ur touch pad works

Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.
Some laptops don't have dedicated buttons but you can use Function keys (like Fn + F5 on Dell computers) to toggle the state of your touch pad. In the case of HP laptops, you can hold the top-left corner of the touchpad for few seconds and it will disable the touch pad - repeat this to re-activate it.
New laptop computers either have a physical on/off button to easily disable the touch pad or there's an icon in the system tray that lets you manage the various settings of the touchpad. If you don't have that icon, you can go to Control Panel -> Mouse Properties -> Touch Pad to enable or disable the touchpad.
The touch pad can also be disabled through the device manager. Type devmgmt.msc in the Windows Run box to start the device manager, expand "Mice and other Pointing devices", right-click and disable the driver entry that says Touch pad or likewise.
Hope this information will help.
