The type of audio power and the number on onkyo A917 amplifier

Hi
Usually there are 2 transistors for each channel, if you don't know the numbers on the transistors.
there is another way to get as close as possible to have equal or similar to the same type of transistors (NPN/PNP)
example: 2SA is PNP transistor.
there are (2SA/2SC) transistors and there are (2SB/2SD)
complementary transistors
1: you have to know the supply voltage for the transistors
2: choose transistors that it is equal to the current and voltage that suits the supply voltage.
follow this link to find suitable transistors.
be aware and be careful that there other parts you need to check on the power amplifier circuit, resistors, capacitors and drivers etc...
I would suggest (2SD1047/2SB817)

How to remove c707

C707 is just a simple capacitor that is very easy to remove. If you are askign this question it sounds like you are realy winging it which is never a good idea. You may want to instead get a complete repair kit from www.tvrepairkits.com for this model. It will include the parts but more importantly in you case the instructions on how to do the repair from start to finish

I have the same problem however I cannot locate the c707 capacito

E 994 is a orange pico fuse---and the c707 is a cap----I can email you photos of both and tell you exactly where to find them on the circuit board--this is a very common and easy repair if it is your problem---I carry the caps and fuse in my tool kit wherever I go---You will have to unbolt the chassis and tilt it up--10 minutes--each of these parts has two leads that need to be unsoldered and then resoldered after you replace the parts.

I do this here for free so if you want the instructions take a moment and give me a vote here.

The monitor fails to power up. green power button light flashes, theres a slight fizz when you turn it on and off. looks like the capacitors have leaked as they have expanded further than the normal shell...

First what kind of monitor and model.
Second, don't use the monitor if you can hear and or see problems, have the unit repaired or replaced.
The caps are easy enough to replace if you have the savy.... With no model number I can't tell what kind of unit you have but if you mean C5707 and not C707, you have a Dell or BenQ monitor.
The C5707 is a 8 amp NPN transistor.
I have removed and replaced about 20 sets and used a TIP3055 which is a 10 amp rated.
You should have 4 to be replaced.
You also may have to watch what size the caps are, as if too long, they will hit the shield.
Good luck.

TV will not turn on.

repaired two sets, both had a blown fuse (E???) and shorted capacitor (C707). These parts cost me $2.00.
Search for the keywords Hitachi and C707.

Won't power on

Linda,
A VERY common problem with this unit is a small blue disc cap C707 (102 @ 2kv) tucked in front of the horizontal output transistor. It usually has a small pin hole burned in it when it goes out. The cap is actaully part of the scan circuit and it changes in value over time and becomes unstable then opens, usually taking with it E994 a small pico fuse.
I wouldn't spray too much duster in there for all the dust it will create. You'll be dusting the house for days. But it won't hurt using a can of duster or air to blow it out if you want...
