The compressor keeps turning on and off alot. Not holding temp in both refrigerator and freezer. Coils are clean, fan is on. If i let it sit unplugged for a hour or so it will come back on and act as normal getting to temp then a couple hours later the compressor will start/stop alot and it will loose temp. Unit is a Side by side Amana ARS2464BW
You might try a new relay switch first it is much cheaper than a compressor. I had a Kenmore doing that same thing and I someone advised me to change the relay and it now works wonderful.
The compressor is covered for at least three years, give a call to the number listed on the owner's manual to validate warranty and get the replacement.
Have you checked the power and the amps going to the compressor? Your compressor is getting hot and then it is freezing up and trying to going into cycle but the piston over heats and the relay cuts out the compressor, that is why when you let it cool down it works ok. You will need to get a new compressor. If you have a warranty the compressor is covered
