I have a SV420XVT Vizio and i hooked up a Sony RDR-VX560 VCR-DVD Combo. Did just like instructions told me hooked it up the Hdmi cable and the white and red audio. The picture is great but i have a Black bar on top and bottom. i can not ajust it try everything, When i play a new dvd it plays in for screen but if i try to tape a tv show i have to use the wide format which makes the picture bad. I don't know if its the DVD player, or something else. i hope i can find someone out here that a vizio and a dvd player hooked up no problem. Vizio tech support told me there wasn't nothing i could do. I hate to go and get another DVD player and have the same problem.

You have to go into the "Parental" settings and change the "Rating Enable" setting to off. Default password is 0000. The PIP will not work if your second source is fed into one of the AV inputs. It must be a composite or digital input. You should see the PIP menus once you change the Parental setting even if there is no other source turned on. This info is not in the book - had to call tech support.

I had the same problem. I could get an analog audio signal but no digitial signal. My problem was with the cable box setting. I have Cox Cable. With the Cable remote I went to settings/settings/Audio out and selected HDMI. Worked like a charm

Real easy, get a RCA audio cable (red and white ends) that is long enough to go from the tv inputs to your receiver inputs. Plug one end into the audio out on the back of your tv, then plug other end into input on your receiver (tv, cd or vcr). Now everything going to tv will output to receiver also. You may have to go into the TV menu and under audio, set audio output to fixed. Then you can change the volume on your receiver which is best way to go.
**Advanced** If your TV and receiver has optical capability you can use an optical cable instead.

I recently had the same problem with my vizeo hdmi port # 1 going bad. Tried everything to fix and called vizeo. There solution for a master reset was turn off tv and unplug from the wall. then hold down the power button for 30 secs and let go. plug the tv back in and hold down the volume down and input select buttons down on side of the tv for 15 secs. release the buttons and turn the tv on after powering down all the components connectd to the tv. If this does not work they told me you need to have it sericed for a bad hdmi input. Hope this info helps anyone out there. It didn't work for me. Its a bummer cause the tv is well taken care of and only 18 months old. Best of luck to all others.
