My micro sd is not working in my softbank 740sc. it prompts to be formatted but it says "error." my music files are in mp3 format. what should be the format of the music files for it to be compatible with the softbank 740sc? and, is there any specific micro sd that can only be used for the phone?

Yes, Brother there is one probability that your sd is formatted in fat-32 file system. For that i would like to say phone can only read FAT not FAT-32. Go to my computer, select sd drive properties and format it with FAT file system. Then load the files and you will be able to see it in your phone. If it works don't forget to vote here. It doesn't say so anywhere in the manual (I checked through the whole thing), but on the Samsung product info page for the D900 it says it can only use memory cards up to 512MB. So basically the solution is to buy a 512MB card instead. How much does that ****? Most places don't even sell cards less than 1GB. Ebay is probably the way to go. Having said that, since the internal memory is only a tiny 64MB, 512 is still 8x bigger. They really should have included this info in the manual. Would have saved me several hours trying to get the darn thing to work with my new 2G card.

your micro SD card may be damaged in some small way, or the card reader is a defect in it, to see which one it is,
****TRY TO BUY ANOTHER SD card, your phone can support up to a 2 GB micro SD card, if it persists, then *********** board in the phone has a defect.

You are probably trying to format a micro-SD card that is greater than 2GB eg, micro-SDHC (High Capacity) of 4GB or bigger are not supported by 'older' devices. Stick to 1Gb or 2Gb standard microSD cards for your device.
Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.
