You can update the graphic, by adding a better graphic card, on the mainboard.
The ram can be upgraded to 2 gb ddr2 ram.
A bigger harddrive, can be added, for more space.
The cpu will be hard to find, it probably have socket 775, but this cpu is not available anymore.
And not all cpu`s will fit the mainboard.
Good luck

Please look on the case of the PC, fron back & sides. There should be a model number. (There is no such number you posted, Packard Bell UTOW CO20).

got the same problem with the computer i repaired. i replace the 128 SD RAM with 512 SD Ram using 300 wattz PSU and all i get is continues beep which means mother board error... and in the end of it all i replace my PSU with 350 watz just to power the 512 SD RAM now its working good

No. And old isn't what your PC is......it's ancient. Packard Bell machines from that era were in proprietary cases, making upgrades difficult if not impossible. Additionally, the power supply will probably be underpowered and will may not have the correct power connectors for modern mainboards . It's time to part with the old relic and get a new one.

Thank you Hans, sorry for my late reply have been unwell :(. What a shame re the cpu, when upgrading my hp with new graphic chip we did take the option of also upgrading cpu which was an advantage for sure. I am actually trying to upgrade for a friend and found that I am a number short on the serial number! hence my inability to find it online oooops!! Your advice is very helpful. One more question :O) her problem is, the machine is firing up but no image is coming through on the monitor, she has also tried BIOS but nada. Will replacing the graphic solve this ? or can there be more wrong in this situation? I don't want to waste money if the problem is possibly more than just the graphic? Thanks in advance x
Hello again, when no graphic on bootup, the powersupply could be failing. Try to renew that. I would suggest a 500 watts power supply, depending on the size of the graphic card. But of course the graphic card could be faiing. Info about the HP can be found here:http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers... By entering the pc`s model mumber. When adding a new cpu, you must be sure it fits the mainboard. When the cpu is wrong, the pc will not bootup. It depends on the cache size, fsb, and so on.Try to insert the old cpu again, and see if it boots up. Good luck
