Re: screen is white when i turn camera on
Hi there this is a good question but theres a good chance its fixable i have repaired two camaras with white screens this is when the ribbon cable in the cam has become damaged or not conected properly if the screen is in one peice there a good chance the screen isnt damaged , the only other problem is it could have liquid ingres this is where damp gets inside the camera from taking if out side in the cold from a warm room and vise versa and the components in the camera have become damaged by dampness which will prob lead you in bying a new cam

Eagle 23: Press the "Disp" button and your LCD screen will turn on right away.
nazmil_mj: Can you take pictures or are they totally black as well? If you can only take black pictures then your LCD screen is fine and your CCD is bad or your aperture is stuck. Either of these means you need your lens replaced.
Don't bother asking a store for help (though you can if you like) they will tell you it's not fixable or will just send it to Canon and charge you $175 for the repair.
We are an affordable digital camera repair business, we can replace your lens for about $75!

I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
