I have installed a couple free applications onto my Itouch. They have worked fine in the past 6 days i have owned the itouch. But today for some reason, i will touch an application and it will stay on the screen for 3 seconds, it won't load or anything, and then it will go to the home screen..anyone have any suggestions or ways to fix this? I went into my Itunes, and it says that i only have one application on my itouch, but i have like 6 and so i downloaded 1 of the 6 i have on my itouch again to see if that would fix it, but it still only stays on for 3 seconds and then goes back to the home screen. please help.
New user, 2nd gen iTouch just a few days old. I downloaded two games the other day which worked fine (one free, one paid), but since then, when I touch the screen to load, it starts loading, but then returns to iTouch home screen. So the game won't load. In iTunes on my computer, I see the two apps in my Library under Applications, but there doesn't seem to be any action to perform from the iTunes interface.New user, 2nd gen iTouch just a few days old. Further to my previous post, for some reason, now my apps (games) will load. The only thing I did differently was download a third app (a free version of one of my paid apps). I then opened that new free app, and it opened successfully. Then I went to my two old apps (one free, one paid) and they now both open successfully. Please note, I was always connected to WiFi, so I don't think that's the difference.

Ditto with my iTouch. I only have the Facebook App and Flixster App on my iTouch. They worked fine for a couple of weeks, and now I tap them, it seems like I'm going to the application, but it just returns to the home screen.Ditto with my iTouch. When I try to open my games, it loads for about 3 seconds and then goes back to the screen. Im aware that this has to be a system problem because it is happening to a lot of other people. I had exactly the same problem, you have to sync them on itunes. Plug in your itouch, open itunes and make sure it is the version with an applications section in the libary. Then click on your itouch in Devices go to the end applications tab and you have to sync them. This worked for me.

To Cydia app, you need to jailbreak your iPod Touch.
Jailbreaking is the process to access the Unix file system on your iTouch. This
access allows you to install third party applications that are not manufactured
or approved by Apple, such as Cydia. Depending on how you can unlock your
iTouch have Cydia installed. However, if Cydia is not installed, you must
download and install Cydia application itself. To do this you need to get Cydia
Installer (which will be on your iPod Touch, since it is jailbroken). Once you
have Cydia on your iTouch, you will be capable of various applications such as
downloading games, programs, call blocking and different skins.

1. Touch the "Cydia Installer" on your iTouch. Tap
the "Sources" icon.

2. Tap "Edit" then "Add".

3. Type "apptapp.saurik.com." This screen will
refresh your sources.

4. Tap the icon next to "Install source Saurik."

5. Touch the "System" to open the folder, tap on
"Install Cydia".

6. Wait until the application is fully charged Cydia, click
"I Agree" after reading the terms and conditions.

7. Tap "Upgrade Essentials" for the latest updates
for Cydia for download.
Generally in the itunes store under requirements it tell you that the application is compatible with either iphone, ipod touch or ipad. You should note that the ipod touch is what you seem to call the itouch.
I think it is that you might have to restore your ipod to its original firmware and reinstall the apps. If this doesn't help, call apple and let them fix your itouch. Also these days, anyone that jailbreaks their itouch gets their itouch screwed because apple does not allow jailbreaking.
Try turning off your ipod after installing a new app. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top for 6 seconds, then slide accross to power off when prompted.
Otherwise, if that doesn't work, try restoring the update. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes, which you can get at www.apple.com/itunes.
Then make sure you have the latest firmware version for the ipod.
If all that doesn't fix your problem, try to restore your ipod via DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/
I hope this helps,
Nathan.
ps. keep in mind, that it could be bad programing if it is only happening on one application.
This problem was happening on my system but i managed to fix it easily! What has happened is your itouch software has become corrupt so it will only recognise your keyboard thus the usb connection. You will need to download/install off disc onto your computer again but do NOT go to uninstall program manager on windows as it will not appear there because even though you can access the itouch configuration panel, the database is corrupt and the administrative system will not recognise this. Just download/install via disc and it will just install with no alerts unlike most programs which will recognise the program is already installed onto the system. Once the setup is 92% it will freeze for a second then the found new hardware window will appear on screen go through that process and your mouse is back to normal and your keyboard will work via itouch software.
(Please note that this will only work on windows)
Hi,
The easiest way to download to your iTouch is directly to your iTouch via the Apple Store. The Apple Store icon is already on your iTouch. Just make sure you are near an internet connection via Airport or Wi Fi. Click on "Download" on the selected app, and then wait a couple of seconds. Your iTouch will indicate when the download is done and the app is installed. You will see the new icon on your your screen page.
If you install from your computer, you will have to plug your iTouch into the computer and use the iTunes app to control what you download.
I hope that helps.

i have the same problem, installer just quits back to the summerboard, i've tried turning itouch off restarting it and sometimes it works or just trying a couple times in a row, but now after several tries it won't open. Not that installer is doing much for me these days. Most applications that i try to install, usually games, will start to install but instead of sliding back to the package window, installer quits to the summerboard and i see that i have the application on my file manager but they are no where to be found on my itouch. if anyone has any suggestions of how to fix these problems please email me at [email protected]
My apps will only stay on a few seconds as well
