If you drove it that far and nothing happend than its just the sending unit or the wire came off it. nothing bad. the screach was most likely a fan belt. they will do that in cold weather. its best to let it warm a little before you start driving. If you drove it that far and nothing happend than its just the sending unit or the wire came off it. nothing bad. the screach was most likely a fan belt. they will do that in cold weather. its best to let it warm a little before you start driving.

The RX 8 engine burns oil pretty bad. Majority of time the oil light coming on is due to the oil level being just a little low. When the engine is cold check the oil level if its full then is another issue but if a little low just add a little oil at a time till full then light should stay off.
Make sure your engine oil is full as per dip stick, if it is then you may have a faulty oil switch and they are sometimes located in awkard spots, your mechanic should do it in half hour (if it is the oil pressure switch)
Sounds like oil pump is weak. Did you happen to run it low on oil? Regardless, I suspect oil pump is going bad and should be replaced in very near future.
When your car is low on oil, there is a sensor (sometimes called a switch, as well) that will light up an indicator inside the car to inform you of the low oil level. In some cases, checking the dipstick will show that there is actually oil present, which can be confusing and frustrating because it contradicts the sensor. If this happens to be the case, more than likely the oil pressure switch/sensor is malfunctioning and will need replacing.
Most likely not. It can happen if they jammed a rod down there and poked around and did it on purpose.
Most likely you need to check the oil and take it right back to them if it is full or very near full. These places are known for messing up peoples cars after oil changes. I would go by the amount of oil in the car and mileage since the change. If you only went a few miles say 50 - you should be able to show evidence it was something done or not done by the oil change people. If it is a comparative lot of miles and there are NO LEAKS of any amount much at all you should be able to get something from them if IF -- the oil level is very low or not showing at all. If you wait 4 hours after driving the car - then 1- go pull the dip stick from the motor and 2 2 without turning the dip stick sideways or upside down 3- check the level and take a video pic if it is lower than 1 quart - 4 - take this to the people who did the oil change and if the level is low - do NOT drive the car without checking to see if the oil change people are stand up people.
battery is dead. possibly the alternator isn't charging too. once the car is running if the battery light is on the alternator needs to be changed. if that's the case stick with a mazda part not a rebuilt.
