Screen hazzy and issue with blue convergence

All of a sudden the tv is bright and hazzy. tried to adjust everything. people look red and blues have a glow when scrolling channels ...tried to converge stuff using the multi point.... red multipoint center is bright and the bars to converge look yellow then around outer boarder they are all red hazed and cant see what converging... multi convergence for blue very bright towards middle of screen and the outer convergence blue fade into tv making it impossible to see what to converge. you can see the crosses but when highligted to hard to see cause the cross blends into the backgroud. On both multi point screens for red and blue convergence the wording is green and very badly hazed with green........ Is my convergence bad or is the bulb going out.

The picture is just not as sharp as it was before. I was out of the country for a few months and when I got back it seemed the colors blend with each other and it takes away from the clarity. It's almost like there is a haze. I also tried all that I could, adjusting the sharpness and brightness and such but it did not help.

Bad convergence would cause show to look as if it was supposed to be a 3-d movie, if a bulb was going out then people would look purple blue -green,or some other off color, so likely the green bulb is going out from the color of the people you described.

I will like to try to fix my sony projection tv model #: KP-65WS500 from a blue dowble images

it could be either the blue CRT being bad since the set shut down after turning blue. It could also be the convergence needs replacement. The CRT sounds more likely you can get the replacement Blue CRT and also the sony #1 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com they can also assist to determine which of the two is most likely causing the issue.

My 52in hd tv wont show a picture and when you cut it on it just light up red but no picture and i cant get to adjust the convergence on the menu.

If the screen is a bright red its indicating an issue with the CRTs could be the red has shorted or the coolant in the blue and green is needing replacement which makes the red Dominate. Looking into the blue and green lenses will verify if its a coolant isssue or not. The convergence issue is most likley failed convergence ICs and the associated 6.8 ohm resistors need replacment.

It appears to be convergence issues. Red, green,

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

Having trouble adjusting lenses and color to correct settings.

Are you adjusting the TV using the menu or did you open the set up and turn the knobs. I hope you did not adjust the knobs without some instruction.

I was just given this t.v because friends couldn't figure out what is wrong with itl. The colors don't line up right, looks kinda blurry depending on the lighting of the program being watched. How do i fix...

According to the manual:
1) go to the "TV Main Menu"
2) Select "Screen"
3) Select Adjust Projection TV (obviously only if a projection TV).
This then allows you to adjust the TV's 3-colors. Selecting GREEN CENTERING brings up a control panel that lets you center the green projection tube on the screen. Selecting RED CONVERGENCE or BLUE CONVERGENCE lets you align the Red & Blue projector tubes. Centre the green projector tube 1st. Then adjust the red & blue until the test pattern on the TV screen appers white.
Good Luck!
