If your washer is not spinning fast enough, or barely spinning at all, this is usually a symptom of any one or all of the following: 1. Bad gearcase (transmission). 2. Bad basket drive, with which the transmission couples to under the agitator. 3. Bad clutch/brake assembly. Which mounts on top of the gearcase under the basket drive. Usually a tell tale sign of a gearcase beginning to fail is the sign of an amber colored oil coated under the washer or inside the casing. I said, "usually". It doesn't always happen, but if you notice any signs of oil, the gearcase is shot. The basket drive and clutch assemblies are harder to diagnose and require some disassembly of the washer and the removal of the gearcase to inspect. Let me know if this helps.

If you're going to rate my advice as "Not Helpful", it would be nice to know what you have done so far, so that I may try to assist you better. I work on these machines all the time, and have repaired many different problems with them. The advice I gave you is a "best guess solution" based on the symptoms you gave. It's often hard to determine a cause without being there, and not knowing more than the initial symptoms. Let me know if I can still help.

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

My 4 year old roper washer leaves grease on clothes. On spin cycle the machine makes a screaching noise, and the clothes don't spin dry.

Possible that the belt is slipping and also there is some issue with the agitator as the gaps within seems to bring up the dirt or grease mix to the clothes.
So it is important to remove the panel and check the play on the belt, replace if the play is high and check if the agitator bearings are worn out. If so the agitator assembly must be taken out and checked.

Clothes don't ring out dry. I thought maybe a belt but how do I get at it?

from back you will have to take back off then the side then the belt will be located under tub.

Kenmore makes whining noise as it tries to spin

The drive coupling has probably broken. Usually happens when you overload the machine. Easy fix. READ MORE

Washer won't spin clothes dry enough

Dear Langley,

please do the following checks.

This may be a spin problem or a drain problem
  • Make sure the drain line is clear
  • Check the drain hose for a partial blockage
  • Inspect the water pump
  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch
  • Test the water level switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission

please rate this solution.Thank You Langley

Kenmore Front loader washer doesn't spin clothes as dry as before

The out-put pump is possible clogged up and not moving the water efficiently, also check the pully belt is tight

Washer will not spin sometimes

look under for the belt(s). Belts must be clean and dry, and in good shape, no oil or grease on them. If the machine is leaking on the belt, it will slip. Detergent will make the belt slip.

Washer making noise in spin cycle

Is this unit new? I had a frigidaire that would really get to going on the spin cycle. Got the clothes really dry and sounded like a jet engine if no clothes were in it. Is it a whisling sound or screeching sound...The sound could be coming from the water pump. It may have something in it that is dragging. Some you can take the bottom off of and clean them out..

Kenmore 80 series washer not completly spinning clothes dry

Belt going..
A bit of a pain to replace, but doable..
Belt dressing will keep it going for a while..
Dont get your fingers caught in it..
Serious injury is possible, unplug the machine
and stand on the plug while moving the
belt to goop it..
(why? that way it cant get plugged in!)
