I have a fairly new (1 year, medium to light use) Powermate 5000. It runs fine but no power output. I spoke with a repair man who does service work for Coleman and he suggested that he has replaced the AVR board on many units but can no longer get them due to Colemans demise. what can I substitute for the original AVR board? What component gets fryed, I could replace that piece and keep going?
Sincerely
Don't want to buy a new gen!
I had a very similar problem with my Powermate generator. The repair was fairly simple. I purchased a new capacitor from http://www.jackssmallengines.com/do_it_home.html. The part was less than $10.00 plus shipping. I just put the part number in from the owner's manual. to replace the part you remove the power end of the generator (four long bolts 7/16), Unplug the wiring harness and then remove the three screws which hold the clear plastic shield in place. All you have to do is pull the wires off of the blue capacitor and put the new one in. When you pull the end off you should also look at the diods to see if they look burned. If they do you can get these from Jack's as well. I hope this fixes your problem
Good luck!!
