JVC HDD Camcorder won't record or playback

I bought a 20gb hdd camcorder on eBay. It powers on and I can run through the menu, but I nothing is coming through the lens. On the lcd are nine black squares that would show the scenes if there were any on the hard drive. When I try to record (MPG) is entered above the squares, but nothing is ever recorded. Solutions? I've pushed the reset button and nothing happens. I've removed the battery and put it back on and I get a communicating message, but then I immediately am taken back to the nine screens. My 60 GB all of a sudden won't record or playback, when i press the record button, it doesn't do anything!

Depending on what model number it is? My JVC had a snap shot feature to it as well as video. Make sure that this is not an option for your camera. There could be a possibility that you did record but you have it in this camera setting, it could be taking snapshots of what you recorded.

I have the Everio 30BG and have downloaded all the files onto my computer, however there is a message showing 'insufficient space' when I try to record, and yet there are not files. HELP>

Are you saving to the micro SD card or to the HDD? You need to go into your menu options to ensure that you are saving to the HDD automatically. Sometimes I used to save to the SD for pics and the HDD for video (set up in the menu). Maybe you are deleting the HDD files but automatically recording to the full SD card?! Check

My JVC HDD GZ-MG365 will not record to the HD. It keeps coming up with an HDD error.

Try to format your HDD on the camera itself. Formatting is available in the menu. Formatting your HDD outside your unit is not recommended. Make sure to back up important files. Hope it Helps

Can't get rid of the screen images for video camera on playback

Hi
If it's like my Canon MVX25i date and time marking then go to the menu, select display setup (or whatever it's called on your camera) somewhere there should be a dialogue which allows you to switch the pesky thing off. I have never used date or time, a very amateurish concept in the first place.

Playback on PC has no sound

Are you playing the video back through the camcorders utility ? Sometimes by clicking on the file through windows explorer you will get the picture but no sound, this happens for the Sony camcorder but is fixed by running the playback through the motion picture browser application supplied with the camcorder.

I have a everio camcorder

Generally an HDD error indicates that the heads are not spinning at the correct speed or at all. Look inside and make sure that there is no debris inside the compartment and try again. If you find nothing, the unit will need to be serviced.

Regarding on battery .

Along with supplying power many camcorder batteries exchange data with the camcorder. If this data is not read by the camcorder it will power up but give you a power error message.
Quite often the problem is caused by a foreign material on the contacts. Try cleaning the contacts on the battery and the camcorder with alcohol and a Q tip.
Another possibility is you have a defective new battery.
