I recently purchased a new phone, and as part of the deal I received a Sandisk 2GB microSD card, I brought it home, read the packaging, then put it into my computer. I accessed it through "My Computer", when double clicked I was prompted "Drive E: not formatted, would you like to format it now? so I clicked continue, capacity said 1.89GB FAT, and that was all in the prompt screen so I clicked Begin, and it was going along nicely then said Windows could not complete the formatting. I waited it for it to compelte ejected it and re-inserted it. It then came up with card is unreadable and may contain an error.
Took it back got a new card, tried it did the same thing.
So is it the card, or is it the Computer?
I have the same problem. My wife inserted a 2gb scandisk micro sd into her SD card reader. She tried the format option as well and now it will not read it in any computer or device. Any ideas?

If your memory card wants to be formatted or can't format in 80% of all cases the controller of your card is damaged and no software or card reader can help. You must separate the memory chip and dump the raw data to recover your data, look here: CF xD SD MMC memory card/stick photo recovery

a J700i uses MicroSD, the smaller card. Put it in the MicroSD port on your phone and push it in until it clicks. Goto your Memory card or Media Center on your phone and you can access your files, etc.
There are a few "memory card recovery" programs but from experience most do dot live up to the claims and even those that do are not as good as I would like to see.
recovery specialists are not cheap and for sd cards i do not know of any that can guarantee any degree of success.
If having tried it on other computers then there is a very goo chance it no longer of any use.
I have here a large amount of SandiskCruzers all of which are dead, some were not that old. Sandisk quality has suffered quite a lot of recent and it is no longer a brand I can recommend any more.
Two options--Go to Options > Media Card, set Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected to Yes.Another one go to this site http://forums.pinstack.com/f8/mass_storage_issues_heres_the_fix-96938 and on the first post there is a file "BB storage Activation new.rar" of size 3.63 Mb.Download it,extract it and upload it on your phone and just install. It will definitely solve your problems. Also you need to register there to download that file...just do it no problem.
SD cards and microSD adapters have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
Are you formatting it in a cell phone, a digital camera, or on your computer?
If you're formatting on a computer, be sure you have the microcard inserted into the adapter correctly. I would suggest you format the card in the device that you're using it in most.
I bought
