Tyup, you are out of luck with wanting to do this. Trade it in for an am/ fm rig if you can.

Hi Trevor,

The Midland radio you have is NOT capable of FM transmit & receive. It is a Citizen's Band radio that operates on channels 1 thru 40 that are assigned to the 26.965-27.405 MHz frequency range. These are the standard 40 Ch CB frequencies in the U.S. (and may not be legal for use in other parts of the world without a license from your country's communications authorities). It also offers Weather Band reception - again these are US frequencies that may or may not even be used at all in the UK. Since the radio only displays a channel number, you don't actually know the frequency you're monitoring or transmitting on. Your friends on CH 5 may be in a completely different band.

Even if they are on the same frequency, the fact that they are operating in FM mode means that you would hear something - but it may not be intelligible - and the same would be for them listening to you transmit in AM mode. If you could have them switch their radio to AM, all would be fine. I suspect they use FM as there is much less static when compared to AM.

If they won't change to FM, you'll either have to stop trying to talk to them or buy a radio capable of FM (and make sure it has the same frequencies as theirs!).

Good luck!

Yes, the U.K. does have its own peculiar fm segment of the 27 meg band, but it has recently ok'd the use of fcc/ USA type am/ ssb rigs of recent manufacture.

Ho to tune a midland 9001z

right out of the box, without the manual? I can tell you how to turn up the modulation and things like that but without the manual.I have a 9001z and midland has a manual but to get one you have to become a tech on their site. Other than that you and I will not have one unless I come across one. Besides,if you got it out of the box it shouldn't need to be tuned.

I Want To Add Talk Back Mod To CB Radio

there is what is known as the Quick and Dirty way, to add talkback to almost any CB radio. You will need a 130 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor. Open the radio and find the two mounting points for the external speaker jack and PA audio jack, you will want to solder the resistor across from the Positive connection of the PA jack to the Ground connection for the External speaker jack. This will give you talkback, and eliminate any feedback when the microphone is held at a normal operating distance away, Just remember, (This could potentially damage your radio if done improperly, I will not be held liable for anything that you do to your radio.) However, when done correctly this is a perfectly safe modification, and will allow you to monitor your output audio, as it is being transmitted. You can adjust the size of the resistor to your liking, however, I do not recommend anything lower than 100 Ohm, as there will be more potetial for squealing/feedback.

Midland 9001Z How To Add Talk Back Mod

great radio but I own one and never again will I get one . To add talk back you must take off the top cover, solder a 33 ohm resistor across the pa and the external speaker outputs. If it doesn't work then try another resistor but this is the way to do it . If you want it on a variable then you attach two wires from each side of the resistor to a switch and you have it. I'm trying to get rid of mine but nobody wants to buy it.cheap.

Adjust modulation pot midland 5001

because of lack of information on this radio I will have to say its stamped the same way as the 9001z which is top secret because even midland doesn't have a manual on it . If you look at the board with a magnifying glass you will see the variables are marked with like vr-1 might say mod, if that's the one then turn it all the way to the left for max mod. You have to look at each variable and next to it it will have what function it does .

Midland 75 785 purchase from us will it work on uk channels

  • For 11 meter (CB) the standard 40 channels will be the exactly same as the "EU" set of frequencies (channels). However the "UK" 11 meter (40 channels) and the U.S.A. 40 11 meter (40channels CB) will not work together at all. This includes any actual Citizen Band radio, excluding Export 10 an 12 meter radios often labeled as "CB'S" which they are not.

  • Hope this helps.

Would like to know the proceedure for mod limiter clip and mod peak, seems to have plenty of receive with the RF Gain.

that is one of midlands big secrets. they want to do the work on their product so they will only release certain manuals for certain radios. unfortunately the 1000 z isn't one of them. Hey I mean I have a 9001z and midland told me they don't have service manuals for it.
