As a general rule, the belt should be kept as loose as possible. However, the belt must not slip on the rollers in normal use. Possible overtension can be quickly checked by walking on the belt at a speed of 3 mph The belt must slip on the front roller if you brake the belt with your feet, holding onto the hand rails, while you walk. If the belt does not slip, the tension is too high and the rear roller must be loosened.
The belt tension and alignment is done by adjusting the rear roller position with the attachment bolts at the back of the treadmill a 1/4 turn at a time until correct tension attained. T
Sometimes tightening the belt is not the problem> What I would be doing is to get on the machine a determine which of the belt is actually slipping. What happens if the drive belt is glazed slippage occur no matter what you do. With the running belt you may have to it limits of adjustment and the belt can be stretched that no matter how you adjust it it will slip!!
One possibility is the pulley in the front roller. The shaft that goes into the roller slips making the belt seem as if its slipping. To check it it requires tmarking both surfaces with paint and then see if the mark seperates.
The belt is stretch and so it is slipping on the motor shaft. You need to change the belt. Here is a link for the
instructions on how to change the belt and a link for the belt you need:
Depending if this is a new issue or old, It could be a couple of issues. Check the belts for slipping. Proper tension on walking belt (check your manual) or drive belt -remove the cover and you might be able to see if the belt is slipping or it could be a load issue (electronics not sensing added load fast enough). My bet is belt tension. Also Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate www.twincityrepair.com
To tighten the belt, start by
locating the two bolts that adjust the
rear roller (one on each side of the unit in the back). Run the unit at
about 3 mph. Tighten the bolts a 1/4 turn at a time. Make sure that
what you do to one side, you MUST do to the other side or the belt will
get off center. After you tighten it 1/4 turn, check the belt to see if
it is still slipping. If it is then tighten the belt 1/4 turn again.
Continue until the belt does not slip, but do not tighten the bolts more
than 2 full turns.
