Traditional Irish coffee's are made using hot coffee, Irish whiskey and sugar topped with heavy cream; however over the years many people have made slight additions/changes to this recipe. I prefer to use brown sugar in my Irish coffee.

Here is an instructional video that will teach you how to make a perfect Irish coffee -

I want to give carrot cake a try, can anyone recommend a recipe that they have actually used themselves?

I use the carrot cake recipe on the BBC website and my family love it. Grating the carrots is a bit of a pain if you don't have a processor but it's worth it in the end.

Does anyone know a good recipe for a Spanish coffee?

A classic Spanish coffee is absolutely delicious. You will need Tia Maria (a coffee flavored liqueur), rum, whipped cream and of course a cup of hot coffee.

There are many variations to this recipe including the use of brandy, triple sec, Kahlua, and sugar for a sweet rimmed glass. Check out the link below for a video tutorial.

Tangy Corned Beef and Cabbage Stew
You don't have to be Irish to enjoy this lovely dinner.
  • 3 pounds corned beef, rinsed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoon quick cooking tapioca
  • 3 medium carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 medium onions, quartered
  • 1 small head cabbage, cut into 8 wedges (do not remove the heart)
  • 1- 10 1/2 ounce can beef broth
  • 1 soup can water
  • 2 tablespoons wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon horseradish (optional)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  1. Place corned beef in pot. Sprinkle tapioca evenly over meat.
  2. Spread carrots, onions, and cabbage evenly around and over meat. In a mixing bowl, combine beef broth, water vinegar, dry mustard, horseradish, molasses, cloves and bay leaf. Add to pot.
  3. Cover and simmer at Setting #4 for 6 to 8 hours or until vegetables are fork tender. Remove cloves and bay leaf. Keep warm for serving at Setting #2.

Instruction manual for cuisinart auto grinb and brew 1 to 4 cups

Here is the trick with the Cuisinart Grind n Brews - their proportion sizes are based on a 5 oz cup - most coffee cups are about 8 oz cups - so you really need to use more than they suggest, but here is their reccomendation:

We recommend you use 1 scoop of whole
beans per cup. Maximum 14 scoops.
For 1 or 2 cups, use 1-1/2 level scoops
per cup. Adjust the recipe according
to individual taste.
