I have an Asus laptop Pro50G - the keyboard has numbers associated with certain letters e.g. J = 1 when using the function key. this morning after booting up, When I press these keys, instead of getting...

If there is a key on your keyboard that has the Fn key inside a lock icon, press Fn and that key and see if that unlocks the Fn key. You can also try pressing it normally, since your Fn key seems to have its own Fn-lock kind of setting.

If you dont have that kind of a key on your keyboard, this could be caused by an option in the BIOS. When booting up press the F2 key or whichever key your computer uses to open the BIOS. Once in the BIOS, look for an option that allows you to change the Fn key from a hotkey to something else, such as legacy.

My son touched my keyboard.....now a lot of the letters dont work......HELP!!

as i understand a few letteers are not working on the keyboard . If the remaining keys are working good then shut down the computer then when you turn the system back on keep on tapping the F8 key on the keyboard till u see the option advanced boot options . On that screen select safe mode using the arrow keys on the keyboard . This would load the system to a different screen where the icons would be bigger in size , open a note pad and try typing the keys ,if its working then its a OS issue else its a issue with the keyboard. what u could also try is reseating the keyboard .If no go , replace keyboard by contacting the manufacturer

Certain keys are creating double letter combinations e.g. typing "y" yields "hy", "i" creates "ki", "r" "fr", and "o" brings "o9". the shift key has stopped working. replaced batteries. took off key caps...

i think maybe some of your keys are stuck together. have you spilt something on it or is there a load of debris underneath keys if so just give it a wipe to clean it or blow on the keys to remove debris

Some keys giving double letters cant enter password for windows

Good morning! possible that some of the keys (/letters) terminal point of your keyboard were locked/stucked-up during your cleaning. I suggest to use another keyboard then check the status of the keyboard if it is working properly thru Device Manager. best regards

Certain keyboard buttons don't always work

MOST LIKELY IT IS THE KEYBOARD IT SELF AND GO TO ACE STORE HAVE THEM TEST IT, IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT, GO INTO CONTAL PANAL SELECT DEVICE MANAGE OPEN KEYBOARD, RUN CHECK ON KEY BOARD, CHECK THE DRIVERS UPDATE, IF THE PROBLEM STILL PROBLEN GO ONLINE AND BUY A KEYBOARD FOR AND INSTALL IT YOUR SELF AND SAVE YOU A TON OF MONEY.

Only the quajznm keys are working on my laptop Keyboard.

I would shut down the computer, unplug the keyboard and ignore both overnight and try it again in the morning after inverting the keyboard and slapping (flat handed, not hard) the keys in case she had someting in her fingers when she did it.
Heck, I don't even know which language she managed to call up that only needs those letters - LOL.

If she actually managed to damage it, new standard keyboards are cheap.
