I am very sorry, but you will have to tell your mom you broke the iron. There is no easy fix for it. If you were next door .....maybe I could look at it for you....but your not....so gotta fess up....and don't plug it back in.....you may get electrocuted. Give it to your dad or mom to evaluate it's worthiness of further use.
When empty, fill with white vinegar, let it heat up then hold the steam button down to let the vinegar run through the iron. Do this over the sink!! Then fill with water and repeat to rinse the vinegar out. The vinegar will dissolve the mineral deposits in the iron.
You better open your tefal iron,so you can fix the problem. When open look for the contact bronze in color must them place in the center, use a sandpaper to clean the contacts, when already clean test it if its okey going to hot again if not turn the udjuster to adjust it is a screw liked.
Unless you have a 5 or 6 hundred dollar iron, there is an excellent rule of thumb when an iron quits working. Buy a new one. These days, irons can be purchased cheaply enough that it is WELL worth the money. Not just for the convenience, but for the safety issues. This is an appliance that could burn your house down even if it's in PROPER working order. Hope this helps!!
You've to open the unscrew the rear screw and take out the rear cover. It's quite hard to fix it if you don't have the schematic diagram. Suggest you odd to have the iron schematic to have step by step as for your easy guide reference.
